Mass Effect has a thrilling narrative that'll put a fuzzy feeling in your stomach as you race to save the galaxy.
Then there's Losy Odyssey. Quite mysterious story about immortals and such. Rivetting.
But best story overall? I'd recommend Breakdown on the original Xbox. Excellent sci-fi story. One of the best I've ever experienced.
I agree with you on Condemned 1,probably one of the best campaigns I've ever played through...but BioShock's story done before? In my personal opinion, Condemned: Criminal Origins and Silent Hill: Homecoming have the best story lines.
Bioshock and Mass Effect's stories were so cliche' and done before.

Bah I noticed that as soon as I said it, I just didnt find Bioshock's story to be all that "OMG" the atmosphere was sweet, but the story was very "theres a bad guy, now go tear S*it up and go kill him"ShmiityMaybe so,in your opinion. But I don't think a beautiful world built in the middle of the Atlantic, thriving with corruption and addictive,gene-altering drugs has been done before. Not to mention the narrative was fantastic. It's not in the least bit cliche to me.
I can see your point of Mass Effect clearer, though. It can be pretty shallow at some times, but it's still a great game.
Im a huge critic of game stories and narrative, in my humble opinion Bioshock and Mass Effect's stories should not be praised so highly, they are very average...
"This is the bad guy, go kill him" OH NO

Every hear of plot twists and great characters and settings? Yeah those kinda contribute a lot to a story. Otherwise you could describe Angels and Demons as a "this is the bad guy, go kill him" story, which it isn't at all.
Oh,you mean the arching.Well,I can kinda see your point there...but there was a great plot twist,so I don't see how it's all that average.Still,if that's the only problem you have with it,(you love the backstory/world etc.)then it's really not fair to say that the whole story is cliche.Oh no no, I really liked the whole Bioshock world, and the gene-addicted people and what not, but the over arching storyline of the game was very average.
The atmosphere/backstory was great

Mass Effect would probably more suit the "There's a bad,guy go kill him" scenario...but that's still putting it harshly.
Okay, so I've played through MGS4 on my PS3. Now I'm searching for a game that can put a tear in my eye for Xbox 360. Anyone knows one?Storyteller89
Nothing comes close to MGS series at all.
the only game that give tears is probably heavenly sword, but its not on the 360, the closest is boishock and mass effectstevoqwertywow somebody else who actually played and remembers that game's amazing story. I'm impressed. Yeah TC, if you want a truly tear-jerking story I really don't think you can do better than Heavenly Sword or MGSIV.
Mass Effect definitely has a story fit for a AAA action movie. Interesting characters, touching upon a bigger world and bigger scheme of the universe thats thrives upon the goodvsevil struggle, and very action oriented story telling. Thinking just about the story, you'll get to save the universe within the span of 4 days. Its definitely action packed and intense.
Bioshock keeps you guessing until the very end, it really pushes the boundaries of perceptions of good and evil, if you actually play the bad guy, you'll touch upon the darkest corners of its story telling. One big twist thats very very appropriate.
Look into both.
