The game u never expected would be great!!

Is there a game u had bought and u never had high expectation with the game but turned out to be more than u expected?

For me it would be nfs shift i never expected the game to be so addictive. and farcry 2 i bought it for a sale and never though it would be so great with awesome online.

Dante's Inferno and Bayonetta

see, i expected far cry 2 to be good. turns out its SUPER repetitive and thus boring. it was bought for me as a birthday present by my lady, so i made sure i played it through.

Deadly Premonition

I knew it would be crap due to the bad graphics and controls but i bought just so i pass the time faster until Alan Wake was released.

Now, Alan Wake is gladly being sold after 2 playthroughs, but Deadly Premonition jumped to my top 3 all time favorite games of all time. And i finished it 4 times already...

COD 4. Didn't read any reviews of the game and just received my Xbox so I still don't have adequate knowledge of what the good games are. The maps. Oh the maps. Post-apocalyptic like in nature, decaying and in ruins. My God man, I was FLOORED.

I understand you are talking about the 360. But I will go with a game from the first xbox. Black. I love me some Black. Very great game in my opinion. For alot of people it was just a game. For me it was just plain Fun.

This is going to sound crazy and perhaps it is, but I honestly wasn't looking forward to playing Halo and thought it looked like a mediocre, poorly executed game when it first came out. Of course, now that I've played it and been playing it for years, it's addicting qualities have persuaded me otherwise. :D

It would be Alan Wake for me. I had really low expectations of it so I recently rented it and really enjoyed it. It didn't take very long to complete though so I'm glad I just rented it. I really enjoyed the combat in the game and look forward to playing the next one now although I probably wont buy it because of how short the 1st one was.

It would have to be Blur, I got it, thinking it would just be another racing game, but it turned out to be very addictive, even now, I'm still playing the multiplayer, it's brilliant, I wish more people had bought it though, lower the price!

For me Blazeblue CT (I love fighting games but wasn't so sure about it.

SSX 3 on ps2. That game was AWESOME and I wasn't expecting much.

The Outfit and The Godfather 2.

The biggest game I had no expectations for was Uncharted because I got it bundled with my ps3 and have never had fun with a bundle game except for nintendo's special edition 64's.

Since this is a 360 board the game I never expected to be that great was Bioshock, I thought it would just be another shooter trying to cash in on being able to scare people late at night with weird looking people and creepy little girls without any gameplay substance.. Picked up my brothers copy and the gamestop guy sold me on spending some birthday money got it home and couldnt put it down. The whole environment from the ground up was disturbing and the story was pretty engrossing. The ending was pretty good, the last boss a little dissapointing because it was so straight forward especially compared to some of the other encounters. Other than that little complaint it was one fantastic game.

Dark Sector. I bought it for about 4 dollars at gamestop during the sale last month. Had no idea what to expect. I thought it was great. Even played through it a 2nd time on brutal.

I did not expect RDR to be as great as it is.

Definintely Saints Row 2 for me. Very hilarious game and the best co-op game I have ever played.

while it wasnt great Final fantasy 13 was mch better than i expected. I had never played FF before so i thought it would be crap but im glad my $60 didnt go to waste

I agree. I was baffled that this game was one of (if not the) best game(s) I played in 2009. I didn't expect too much out of it, but once i started it I literally sat there and probably played a good 1/2 of the game in one sitting. The story was fantastic, great atmosphere, just everything about it was fresh (something very rare these days for games, especially those made out of licenses like these)

Madden 11. I haven't bought a football game since NFL2K5, I wasn't expecting much from Madden--I wasn't a fan of the franchise for years, but it turned out to be really really good. It's definitly underrated. Easily a 9.0 game. I was surprised how much the touted "leaning" system makes the game better.

Batman Arkham Asylum and dead space

i didnt buy these games thinking they would be bad, i just thought they would suck til they came out and i saw/heard good things about them

Just Cause 2 - since part 2 was so bad

Oblivion - Heard it was good but didn't think i'd like it cuz the gameplay looked boring

Bayonetta - i was expecting a DMC rip-off but i had fun with the fluid combat system(the best i've seen in hack n slash)

Castlevania series - After playing SOTN i got hooked and im currently playing the DS games and HoD that was released for the summer of arcade
