The game of the year so far.........?

Howdy guys!!! so many amazing games that have come out this year, really raising the bar of its own genres.

some of the examples to refresh your minds of the games out this year. in no particular order.

1.Borderlands

2. fifa 10

3.dragon age origins

4.modern warefare 2

5.left 4 dead 2

6. assasins creed 2

7.prototype

8.brutal legend

9. dirt 2

10. forza 3

These are only 10 of them, youd get bored if i named them all, because you know yourself what is the game of the year in your opinion so far, as youve already i presume played it haha

Alot of great titles came out this year but my personal favorite for GOTY would have to be Uncharted 2. I know this is not an Xbox 360 game and I almost feel ashamed to admit it, but I became totally engrossed with this game. The story, the graphics, the sound, the gameplay, the mulitplayer were all first class and you can spend hours in this game and not even realize it. I dearly loved the first Uncharted but the sequel beat it in every way.

Most people are going to pick MW2 for game of the year I am sure, and it certainly is one heck of a game, but to me it just didnt tread as much new ground as the COD4 did back in 2007. To be honest I could almost vote Forza 3 as Xbox game of the year, as that game easily improved in every area over its predecessor and it one of the finest racing games I have ever played.

Assassin's Creed 2 so far but the year isn't finshed yet and I still havent tried Borderlands :P

Imo easily the game of the year 2009 is Forza 3,and maybe second to this comes assassins creed 2!!!

Modern Warfare 2 is going to be GOTY

My favorite is Dragon Age Origins, but I think MW2 will be the most popular choice.

My 360 Game of the Year is BorderLands. That's the game I've had the most fun with. That isn't my overall Game of the Year though. That one's on the PS3. I'll leave that to your imagination.

My favourite game this year is Prototype but im sure it wont win any goty award.

But I do have Dragon Age on the way so am very excited!!!!

Man Ass Creed 2 is getting so much love here. It must mean it has solved ALL the problems with the first game, which was easily one of the most monotonous games I have ever played.

yes indeed assasins creed 2 seems to be a big favourite for a lot of you. and i have to agree with you guys.

AC2 is a absoloute fantastic game, its a amazing acheivement ubisoft have cooked up. it has really levelled up on the first installment, its kicked the repetiveness and given it a total upgrade. the graphics are amazing for a sandbox game certainly the best out there, the storyand the acting is top notch, gameplay is as addictive as i can cope and the replay value, so i hear is very worthy as i havent yet finished the game, the experience really draws you in the game making you feel like a clever assasin, just fantastic ....the only thing i dont like about the game is the slow start at the begining, wouldnt be good for first impressions.

But as much as ilove mw2 this is as special and unique game you can find on the market thats why i think it should be the game of the year.

So far I've really enjoyed Borderlands. Assassin's Creed 2's ending disappointed me to the point where I really began to hate the game, and I haven't played enjoy Left 4 Dead 2 to really say it's worth the title. I can already say that it's an amazing game but just not enough in game time to make it GOTY.

How did you not like the ending? It tied up just enough loose ends and opened some new questions to be be perfect for a sequel. I'm dissapointed about a certain character you didn't get to kill bu besides that it was great. What kind of an ending were you expecting?

They just weren't as good as the big blockbuster titles such as Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Uncharted 2, or Dragon Age. My prediction is that Modern Warfare 2 will take 90% of all game of the year awards.

It's called having an opinion. You don't have to like a game that someone else likes.

I'll go with MW2.

Like the above person noted, its an 'opinion'.

For one, Forza 3 received review scores on the whole just as good as any other 'top' game this year. The only reason it wouldn't win GOTY awards is because sim racing just isn't as popular as FPS games and others are.

What constitutes 'good' is in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure for many big soccer(or football, whatever) fans, FIFA 10 is THE game of the year.

Personally, I haven't played most of the new games. The only new games I bought this year were MW2 and Forza 3. And if I had to make a choice, it would be MW2, just cuz I'm hugely impressed with the improvements they've made, and the greater balance they've acheived in the multiplayer.

Its between Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed II. I loved Uncharted, but Assassin's Creed is freakin addicting so I'd probably give the edge to that.

Overall I'd say Uncharted 2, but i've spent much more time playing MW2.But my sympathetic favorite would be Brutal Legend.

I hated, just hated, killing the last guy six times. SIX TIMES! I shanked him six times! And finally fist fought him till he died! I hated that, it ruined the game for me.

what about arkham asylum? that game was amazing. but i think mw2 will win it just coz of its name and hype alone. i do love the game though.

Would have to say Borderlands or Dragon Age.

so far, probably MW2 or Forza 3, or TBOGT. waiting for December 25th for AC2 to blow me away and claim my personal GOTY (at this point, I really wish I'd bought AC2, and asked for L4D2)

Modern Warfare wasn't that great. I can't lie to myself, Call of Duty 4 was much much better in terms of story. And the Online is full of campers so yeah, Modern Warfare lost my vote. I'm starting to think I'll vote Left 4 Dead 2, I'm very happy with the game so far.

It would be really cool to see Batman Arkham Asylum win GOTY. I think the game is freaking fantastic and its a remarkable improvement over any Batman game before it. This could have easily been another licensed piece of dung but the developer really took the time and care to do our beloved superhero right. It would be an amazing game even if Batman weren't attached to the game but because he is, it's just that much better. If there were awards for returning from obsurity, the nominees would be Batman Arkham Asylum and Street Fighter 4. I know what you Street Fighter fans are thinking, but seriously, when was the last time Capcom made a killer SF game that stays true to it's Street Fighter II roots? Well, its going to be one heck of a close year for picking game of the year. All, I can say is the gamers are really reaping the awards of quality gaming come holiday season. The first half of 2010 should be a doozie as well with the likes of Alan Wake, MAG, Army of Two: 40th Day, and God of War III on the way.

Yes guys this thread is about personal opinion, one guy might like sports games and hate shooting ones, another might like fighting games and again another might hate RPGs, noone is right and noone is wrong.

but if we tally them up as in the ammount of votes for each game, then your AVERAGE rating of the game of the year is Assassins creed 2 or either MW2.

in my opinion MY game of the year is Assassins creed2 easily, i love Mw2 which would be my second choice, but from a gaming experience point of view taking in account non live players interests, its orgininal and this game has such a good story, you guys no the rest...unbelievable

If MW2 wins GOTY thats pretty sad, there are much better games out there. MW2 right now has so many matchmaking problems.

For me its Batman, ODST, and New Super Mario Bros Wii. (I'm old school gamer!) Cant really favor one cause i love all 3 so much.

Batman: Arkham Asylum. Although I haven't played AC2 yet. But no game has been more impressive to me than AA. Great gameplay, story, graphics, and voice acting. No other game has offered such a complete package.

And although there have been some good games this year, this year has a considerably weaker lineup than 07 and 08.

Forza 3 in terms of 360 games I've played. Borderlands was good as well.
