Poll Should Xbox be rebranded to appeal to the international community? (21 votes)

Yes 38%
No 62%

I mean the quality hardware and games are there but it’s hard selling a product in Japan with a name like that.

It would be like trying to sell the ice to people in Alaska. X has a negative connotation in many cultures

Why not call it the U-box because you matter to Microsoft?

None Japanese consoles have always had a hard time in Japan. The name won't make any difference.

Definitely. Other than US, UK and some small market, xbox is very non existence worldwide compared to its peers. They may have to change their branding in some countries to appeal to the base there.

Right. After 20 years. Giving a new name nobody knows. Throwing everything out, all the X-es...

Sounds like if I had a box that I broke up with. It'd be my xbox.

I was surprised that they didn't partner with SEGA to rebrand the Series X/S as SEGA consoles in Japan to be honest.

well Xbox is a great name but the sub names, 360, One, Series X are horrendous. I have no idea how these terrible names made it out of a billion dollar company.

now as far as other countries go idk. i think there should be a way to make Xbox work in other countries.

Games is what matters most. If they marketed Xbox as containing things other than Halo, Gears and Forza. Then other countries would be interested.

I think Phil Spencer is doing a great job with the Xbox brand. I feel like MS knows what they're doing and are getting better with time. I hope it continues that way.

“Series X” sounds like a component to something that came before, rather than something completely new. Their Pro model should probably just have a bold new name and not be called the Series Y. Their branding sure isn’t very consumer friendly. Time for a fresh start, me thinks.

I think XBOX already appeals to a broad and diverse makeup of gamers.

As someone else mentioned above, pretty much any kind of console struggles in Japan. And in many countries in Europe and Asia, they are all about PC games.

Maybe Mexico, Canada, the UK and Australia are places they could market towards more.

I recall in the 360 days they did an advert showing Frenchmen who liked the 360 for its wireless accessories and peripherals. It was paid actors, but it was interesting and got me wondering if XBOX has any strong fanbase in France, or Spain, or Italy or something.
