Well, if you've experienced it 4 times before, you must be an expert by now, you know the drill, call MS, get the coffin, send it in, wait for the new one to come. Good times.

I always go to Best Buy to exchange my systems. Its quicker than waiting for MS. I've spent close to 300 just for buying the replacement plans from Best Buy.

I have my 360 on a wooden shelf. Its right next to the HD DVD drive. Maybe thats causing the problem.

Search my post history. My gamertag is DaMamba24. I was just playing NBA 2k8 last night and was about to try Battlefield today.

Tip: Don't store it back right next to a wall.

Personally (nothing agaianst you just talking in general right now) I hate when people complain about having there 360 dead, and saying that it sucks and that when they have there 360 pretty much cooking in an oven. They have to relaize that its not just the matter of storing it in an open space its the matter of having the room its stored in to be a few degrees (celcius) lower then what the 360 air otake is giving out. I can gaaruntee that if you have it stored in a cool place and in an open space (not with its fans against a wall and preferably horizontaly placed) that it will not over heat.

Aw that sucks. I'm on my 4th Xbox360 right now. The very first one I bought came with a power cord that didn't fit. The cord that plugs into that big battery pack looking thing was three prongs and it needed to be two prongs. Then the next two had broken hard drives. This 4th one has lasted about a year and a half now.

Oh and when I returned the first xbox360, I accidently left an unopened copy of GoW in the box. Sam's Club claimed that it wasn't in the box when they searched it. I know it was.

Dang that sucks. Im on my 8th Xbox. I should get something for having it so many times lol. But yeah try to put it on a place where it can get good ventilation. Also I think making your Xbox vertical instead of horizontal is better in my opinion. I do the same thing at Best Buy, just go in give them my crap xbox with RRoD and get a new one and keep on gaming again in less than an hour.

Don't you guys think this is a good place to place my 360? I mean its in an open area. Maybe I should get rid of the HD DVD drive. Any suggestions?

Yes Its a good area but maybe put your new Xbox standing up, not laying flat. Thats what I do and for like a year now, I haven't had RRoD. When I had my xbox laying flat, i got the RRoD 7 times.

my second unit just had the dvd drive croak. My Best Buy 2 year replacement plan had just expired 2 weeks earlier too. I don;t care to pay over a hundred bucks to have the drive repaired only to have something else go wrong with it. I'm debating whether to Ebay it and the games cheap, or buy an arcade model. Sony's consoles are much better built.

If you read my other post I said that I had all of my RRoD when my xbox was horizontal. When i switched it to vertical, I haven't had any more RRoD for a year now.

I've had mine horizontal for over a year now and had no problems either though. Besides everytime I've sat it up vertical I always get a scratched disk.

Um...not sure if you knwo this but it;s not dead, no red ring of death! Unless it was 4 red sections then it probally overheated. Let cool for awhile and then soonm enough it should be good. IF it continues call microsoft but....unless its fully red in a circle then it's fine.

Fully red in a circle = Cord not plugged in correctly :P

3 quarters red = RRoD.

Don't be a complete idiot, if you've gone through five, what does that tell you? Your placement is obviously blocking the Air vents, I'd recommend the Intercooler EX which I have and my 360 is a launch title. Just try useing a fan and not playing 10 hours straight, kk?

If you look at the picture, you can see that the air vents aren't blocked. And I've never played 360 for 10 hrs. I get sick after playing about 2 hrs straight.

Recommending a fan would be like saying: "Want to Overheat Your Xbox?! Well here the perfect thing to get! A Intercooler!" Yeah the fan in fact uses more power therefore canceling it's main purpose. YOu ccan play longer without it. My friend also has a launch xbox but his hasn't broke ethier. You guys are just lucky...

Yeah just try calling Microsoft. oh and btw I wouldn't have your 360 beside your computer it will absorb the heat causing it to overheat even faster. I keep mine on the hardwood floor at least a foot and a half away from any walls. I've had my 360 since Christmas 2006 and nothing is wrong with it. Good luck though. :)

I put my 360 in the same position as yours, EnglandFC. Mine is also a launch 360. i play 2 hours at a time and do something else for a couple hours and play again. Mines doing great. If you get sick of playing the 360 for 2 hours straight, why would it red ring? The only explanation is you playing your 360 for 45 min,( more or less ) turning it off for a few minutes, and then turning it back on. You might be doing this again and again.Thats why it overheats. Either that, or your 360's not pluged in right. Also. there is a possiblity of your harddrive failing. Don't send it to MS. My friend sent his, and eh got the wrong Xbox back. Take your reciept from where you bought it, and see if you can renew the waranty. Hope this helps.
