Ive been trying to connect my 360 to pc via ethernet cable, and it does recognise the connection between the two, but when it comes to IP address its always FAILED. I use my PC on LAN since im at university, but i dont want to screw up my IP adress so that i cant connect online cause then im screwed. Ive got all the Windows Media 11 and done the connection crap but theres no point since it cant establish a connection with the 360 yet so im focusing on the IP right now. Any help?

Julian

I just had that problem last week all you need to do is disconnect all you other computers for a few mins. Turn off your 360 Plug your 360 into your router Unplug the router Turn on your 360 plug in your router Plug in all your computers Now attempt to connect to Live!! I got these instructions from Linksys (should work for any other router type) Good Luck!!!

Im not actually connected to Xbox Live but thats not the problem: do you have to be connected at the same time for there to be a connection between the PC and Xbox360. If so hows that possible? Theres only one ethernet port on a comp so ur either on the intenet or connected to 360 cant do both so thats why its taking so long

I dont have a router its only the plug in the wall next to my phone slot since im using LAN, so thats why its more complicated. I jst don see how a LAN IP adress would affect the 360 to PC if im only streaming etc not doing online stuff

So do you HAVE to have a router to be able to do it? The university computer staff actively seek out routers and if theyre present they shut our accounts whicih is not an option therefore

i'm in cisco 4 right now so i know alot about networking. since they can detect routers just get a hub they should be able to detect it. if they dont work then find out what the ip address for the server is and put as the ip address for the 360.....if you need help on how to do that just let me know
