Does anyone know anything that will power the Xbox 360 in a vehicle?

The tv is already in it...just so you know.

I have a dc to ac power adapter but it is not powerful enough to power the 360. Does anyone know one powerful enough that I can get at Walmart, Target, Circuit City, or Best Buy or some other store that is almost everywhere?

You're not gonna play it while the vehicles in motion right? Not sure if you know but if you move it the console could scratch up your disc.

I don't know where to get cables to power it, but I wouldn't recommend playing XBOX 360 while in a car. Minor bumps in the road could cause the disc to move and mess the XBOX up.

My advice goes even further and suggests that you should not be driving while playing your xbox 360 system.

I've seen people have a PS2 in their car connected to small screens, so it should be possible, but you may need another battery, or a transformer, to supply enough power to run it - the cigarette lighter socket probably isn't powerful enough

Lol, I've played the wii in the car and it still works, same thing with the gamecube. One thing I recommend is to not have the wiconnect24 on when you are riding because the wii gets very hot. I guess there isn't anything powerful enough by using the cigarette lighter. Guess I'll have to play the wii then...

If you are wondering how I play the wii in the car, all I had to do was tape the sensor to the bottom of the screen.

You people are not thinking right today... How would you game a drive? I don't think anyone is stupid to play videogames while they are driving and besides that, our tv screen is in the back seat so there is no way for the driver to play. What are you people thinking?

They mean don't have the vehicle in motion while playing. Like if your friend's driving don't play your Xbox 360 while he is.

you said u played the wii and gamecube in the car with no problem. well ofcourse cuz there durable and the xbox 360 is a total diffrent system . its way to delicate plus u would mess up the console if u move just a bit so my recommendation is to get the 360 out of that car now.

I'd start with the wattage rating 203w for launch systems and I think 175w for the revision. Double whichever it is and look for an inverter with that power rating or find a 500-600 watter just to be on the safe side as they typically list peak power and not RMS. Hard wire it to the battery positve run from the battery to the inverter make your ground close to the inverter.

Everyone is making a valid point on disk scratching due to bumps as its been known to happen. Park your 360 in front of an AC vent if possible.

Forgot to add bear in mind that an inverter will put out a square AC wave. The 360 might not like this dont know for sure. I do know some laptops dont like cheap inverters. Also make sure your wire gauge is suitable for the length of the run. 8 gague will probably do it but check a chart to be sure.

lols a nice response.

the newer 360s have 175 watt so i think u need a battery to power it up then using the battery infront.

what other people said it might get scratched from the bumps on the raod because if the 360 gets moved it usuly scratches the disc or it screws up the lens in the 360.

If you must play video games in the car... the PSP and DS where invented for this reason. Even if your lucky enough to make your xbox 360 work in a car it will more than likely break within a week or so. And the thought of someone playing a Wii in a car... wow... priceless. Let me know how the Wii fit works in your car.

nothing will because i tried too and then i figured out that nothing will make the xbox get enough power if u look at the thing in the car where u plug the adapter in above that whole it says 120W or something like that and thats how much power a car can give out and an xbox needs more so ya u cant. soz

http://www.theinverterstore.com/the-inverter-store-product.php?model=pwri100012s-top-rgb This one would be a safe bet as it steps the wave form to be close to a sine wave. Its pricy though.

Here is a cheaper alternative at best buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7714011&st=power+inverter&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=1138086673750

Youll need to hardwire either way though.

i wouldnt consider it. Like other people said your disk will jump around from the bumps causing your game to skip glitch and then eventually be scrap so if you were wise you should do it while in motion. On the other staying still then it should be fine just remember it needs a cool place to keep the console cool so dont over heat. Better have the air conditioning on then haha. Dont do it while vehicle is in motion tho. Unless have extra money....

The Inverter is the important part. He might have to upgrade the battery but I doubt it unless hes driving a coke can. Then he might have to upgrade the battery and altrenator.

Meh, I guess the 360 won't be coming along then. Oh well, the Wii will have to do and yes, it does work. All you have to do is just tape the sensor bar to the bottom of the screen(not that hard). I don't recommend pointing games though but they are still playable.

Anyways, I was talking about a trip, which means I would be in motion. I guess the risks are high for the 360 but the wii is made better. I've already gone on a 10 hour total drive trip (back and forth) and it works fine.

Im 16, and Me and my family went down to Florida from Michigan (23 hour drive) and all the way up the east coast and stopped in 3 states, so total about 50 hours in the car, and I had an Insignia 19 inch HDTV with my Xbox 360 connected through Ad-Hoc Wifi to my laptop sharing my Verizon Wireless broadband card connection. Worked PERFECTLY the whole way. I used 2 inverters. A Schumacher PID760 760 Watt inverter, and a little 300 watt black and decker inverter. The Schumacher one powered the Xbox, and the little black and decker powered the laptop and the tv. Now, even though I had an inverter that was way more than capable of powering the Xbox, the cigarette lighter only pushed as much power as it could. The inverter had a meter on it, and It showed how many volts was being pushed in, and it was around 11 the whole way. The cool thing was getting the Xbox live to work through my Verizon card connection. It worked really good with no lagging playing Halo, and Gears of War 2. Now the car I was in was my dad's Ford 2008 F-150 with the trailer tow package which has a more powerful alternator. I tried doing this same setup without the laptop in my friends 2009 Ford Expedition and I couldn't get the xbox to even get to the dashboard without the inverter quitting because it didn't have enough power being pushed to the Xbox. I had no trouble with disc scratching or anything. It might have helped that I had a pillow under it. So I don't think it will hurt anything. Try it!

You will need a power converter that fits your cigarette lighter with at least 1200 watts of power. You can find them at places like Pep boys,Auto Zone, and other car places. Make sure its one that powers cut off if to much power is being drained from your car battery, but if you have the space for another battery then I would install and run the power from a different battery..its own battery.

I wouldn't play an xbox 360 in the car. ESCPECIALLY when your driving.
