I guess it's normal, I did some searching and some people had the same problem, but, is there any way to make it stop? My room gets uncomfortably hot, and in living in Florida, so I don't really need a spare heater around. I doubt I could just fix the xbox, but any remedies to keep my room cooler would be nice. Thanks a lot.

Unless you're living in a box with no ventilation, I seriously doubt your 360 is heating up your room.

It manages it heat things up within 30 minutes of turning it on. I've tried opening a window, and it hasn't been helping much.

isn't that good? :? Your getting free heating! :P Anyways yeah it happens to me too. I sometimes am too cautions about how hot my 360 gets but nothing happens and it doesn't bother me, i've learned to just play and enjoy the game.

If your 360 is putting off enough heat to bring the temperature in your room up, get rid of it fast because it's gonna explode!

Seriously, I highly doubt your xbox is heating up your room. The amound of energy required to heat even a small room is far greater than the amount of energy given off by running your xbox.

yeah it makes mine hotter too; It doesnt' really bother me though. I have a fan so it never gets that bad...plus when ever it's evening i open my window. Maybe one of those external fans will do something, but most likely we're just gona have to live with it...

LMAO

I live in FL too.

Yea man, 360 is like a space heater. It's awesome in January but right now it sucks because it's not cold at all.

No this is common. I play at night for several hours with my window open and a fan blowing in cool air (outside temp usually between 40-60 degrees). The rest of my house is at 69 degrees and my room will be at 73-74 while I play. As soon as I stop and turn off my tv and xbox my temp drops to 67-69 degrees. I know my tv also contributes to that too but it's an obvious change in climate.

But, seriously, whenever im playing and the room gets too hot i just turn the fan on and open the window, it really helps. If it doesnt, go to the beach or something.

Yeah same thing happens with my 360. I have my computer in my room also so my room gets extra hot. I have a mini fan on all day to keep the air circulating through out my room. It keeps it a little cooler.

Yeah, I hate when that happens. I play on my computer monitor in an 8' x 12' room and it just gets so hot (It also doesn't help that I have 3 other computers jammed in there)! But, I usually open a window, turn on the fan, or even just take a break. I live in PA so I can only imagine how hot it gets down there :)

wow. nice way of making the console look very ugly and inconvienant (SP). no warranty for you.

for the thread creator: you can always put it near a vent i have a room that gets really hot and i have 3 fans and a ac window unit and i have my 360 near the window unit. or if you have a wood or tile floor. set your 360 there WHEN YOUR USING IT)

well if ur room on the second floor is normal, cause hot air always rise, and during the summer my room hot as hell. But it kinda nice during the winter for me, cause my computer,360,TV,Setreo, and other electronic in my room produce heat, which keep me warm :D, and during spring or winter, it is hot as hell in here :(

I feel ur pain man, it does keep ur room hot if u don't have an AC/Fan. But yeah, open ur window for fresh brezzy wind

Crank up the A/C. If you don't have one get a small portable one for your room.

The room I play in is rather large, but it heats up very quickly if the door and windows are closed. At least part of it is due to the HDTV as well. I would recommend investing in an A/C unit, or screens for your windows... Although, by mid-summer it is almost unbearable either way.

No dude 360 definitely makes a room hotter, and I live in vegas so that is not needed at all. To the OP I can tell you to turn on the AC, and if you cant do that put a fan by the window and leave the door onpen you should be fine.

ya 360s make good space heaters, when we LAN at my house we play in the same room usually with 5 to 8 boxes linked and we usually have to turn on the AC to compensate.

but ive noticed my box alone will warm up the room pretty quickly.

This is crazy. I can't believe that an xbox can change the temperature of a room by several degrees. The physics behind what some of you are claiming don't add up. I'm going to test this by putting a temperature data logger at various distances from my xbox so I can observe the temperature change. Obviously right next to the unit I would expect to see an increase in temp. But as I get further away, I would expect any heat given off to be disappated into the surrounding room and be cooled down to room temp through typical heat transfer (I keep my house at 70 degrees F).

Apart from the obvious, you could buy a small fridge/freezer unit and open the lid or door. I wouldn't be surprised if it cost less than watercooling for your console. (without voiding your warranty but your electric bill is going to rise a fair bit).

For the record, my 360 also heats my room up and it IS noticeable, even during the winter months. It's still pretty cold now in the UK but my room is warm, when it shouldn't be.
