I was playing saints row the other day and I stole a pick up truck form a parking lot, the police was right behind me and someof them were on foot around the parking lot, while I was escaping I hit one of the cops who flew in the air and landed right in the back of the pick up truck. He was just laying down there. He remained there for the rest of the escape chase. After a while I went to one of the stores, but some weapons and what not, and I come back out, and the policeman is still laying there.

I know, its nothing out of this world but its amazing sometimes how realistic physics could be, even for the small things like that. I wonder if something similar has happened to you guys in other games...

I love it when guys grab the door handle of cars in GTA IV and you just drag them along for a while. Source Engine games (Half-Life 2 etc.) probably still have the most awesome physics. Garry's Mod ftw.

If it's 360 only then probably The Orange Box, but Crysis (to me) offers the greatest range of physics.

Greatest Physics? It needs to be the way you can kick some 300 pounds dead locusts... Don't you love when they fly like marshmellow balls?

Kidding aside, to me it's Half-Life/Orange Box.

Half-Life 2 for me, never had the luck of playing Crysis unfortunately, played Far Cry 2 though, maybe it's not the same but the physics there didnt impress me much.

Definately Half-Lie 2. You guys should check out Garry's Mod on youtube, if you dont already know about it. GMOD is my favorite game.

GTA 4 without a dought. The way the cars, motorcycles and helicoptershandled, the way people fell from heights looked so real. Even details like holding onto car doors, smashing car windows, crashing and flying through windscreens. And the way if you smashed your car a bit then the area you hit would appear damaged rather than most games where the whole car is more damaged after each hit. even the power of the crash effected how much damage there was. Infact I think GTA4 won an award for its physics engine.

i always loved that about gears, boomers are about 7'5" and probably weigh about 1000 pounds, but once they are dead, they might as well have been made out of jelly

GTA is not that real in my opinion. It is too cartoonish to be real. Any game that uses the Unreal engine is pretty realistic i think. RE5 engine is a close second.

Yea all they have are played-out deaths, there's not really any physics in it at all. If a grenade blows up in front of you, you'll fly back. If a grenade blows up more to the left or right but still a tad in front of you, you'll still possibly fly back.

all the orange box games have good physics. i dont know if it counts, but i like the way in alone in the dark, you have to actually select you weapon from your jacket and select the cut you want to heal. that stuff was cool

I remember when I saw a PhysX demo of Cellfactor on PC. The amount of physics calculations that were going on was insane and it showed visually. As for console games, I'm really impressed by GTA IV and the Source games as mentioned here.

euphoria!!! btw, just because euphoria doesn't have a gravity gun doesn't mean it has bad physics... and just because a game lets you grab stuff and fling it at people doesn't mean it has the best physics in the world. in terms of most realistic physics, i'd say it's a tie with GTA4 and Force Unleashed
