At the moment I believe GTA 4 has sold the most copies, but MW2 will no doubt exceed that.

Wow this kid of news is old. About 2 or 3 months back, maybe more IW said that from preorders alone back then, they estimated around 12million sales day one. Its a no brainer that it will be the biggest launch of all time. Many retailers have also confirmed that its the most preorders they've ever had on a game ever.

i think preorders have passed the 2 million mark. so i would say maybe 3-4 million.

I'm pretty confident that it will beat Halo 3's numbers easily. And I wouldn't be too surprised if it beat GTA IV's launch, but that is a taunting task.

I think it will, i just have to find a way to the midnight launch with someone that is 17, since im still 16 :(

It's going to curb-stomp Halo 3. te number of things my local gamestop are doing for this launch is crazy. waitresses bringing over free food from the LongHorns next door. Monster Energy is supposed to be there with free drinks (haven't seen the Monster Girls since college, hopefully the ones up here look as good as the Floridian ones). they've even gotten some (I guess local) heavy metal band to come play during the event. I'd laugh if out of the 1000+ pre-orders, only 50 people showed up.

wasn't Halo's launch record beaten 6 months later by GTAIV? so we really should be asking if it will sell more than GTA, which it will.

This should be a pretty big launch. Plenty of people are excited about it across all three platforms it will be on. It won't be a surprise if it beats Halo 3 (This explains why 3rd party exclusives are going the way of the dodo bird and why Microsoft puts their games on both Xbox and PC. More Sales.) although i would really be surprised if it beats Grand Theft Auto (with it's household name status even with soccer moms).

I for one have not been this excited for a video game since GTA 4... I might even be MORE excited for this game, because I know the Multiplayer has the potential to hold my interest for a LOOONG time!NOD_Grindking

The most excitement I ever had for a game was GTA IV, then Ballad of Gay Tony, and now... the new 2D HD Sonic The Hedgehog that Sega announced on 09.09.09

I'm hype for MW2, but not as much as the people around. And it's because of my friends I lost all my hype, they have it already and shunned me for waiting til the actual street date. :(
