EPIC lag much?? Seriously that is insane that M$ would do that. I bet if it succeeded barely any people would play it.

Involving money? Probably a game like 1 vs 100. But if it were actually that many people playing together in an action-type game.. that would be an epic response to MAG on Microsoft's part!

I saw this on a job website a few weeks ago...Microsoft game studios has several job openings for new games and experiences... all I know is that they are creating a new Halo, I don't think this massive multiplayer connection has anything to do with it though.

This sounds like something that could be possible maybe ten years from now, especially if this is another first-person shooter.

Massive Action Game. for the ps3 but it doesnt come out till this fall. up to 256 players online simultaneously. but its a squad based game so you wont actually be all in the same area at any given time. itll be like squad a vs b spawning in one area and fighting there while squad c vs d spawns in another part of the map and is confined to fighting there.... something like that although i dont really know if youre free to wander away from the fight and into another fight or anything. thats just what i understand how they tried to explain it

Any team is allowed to do what they want but your rewarded increased XP for fulfilling objectives. This game however will probably be some MMO piece of ****.

If you build a system from the ground up and Money is not a problem, when TB are now the new MB and home Hi-speed internets are now 16mb+ with a average gamer hi-speed pings at 3-6mb. 300000 person server will not be a lagged out slop server. BUT it will not be cheap to build

Don't confuse what you want to read into the story with what was actually said. It is not going to be 300,000 people in the same FPS map killing each other - never going to happen. What they are talking about is a server able to deal with having 300,000 people online at the same time, and dealing with all that data. Currently large MMOs split their players among different servers to help the load. Xbox Live is able to deal with millions of people being online at once, but that is also spread across multiple servers - having just one server it would buckle under the load. This sort of server would be very useful for a MMO, as it would allow potentially all subscribers to play together on the same server without having to split apart into different "worlds" (read servers).

Everytime I hear about online games getting bigger and bigger with multiplayer I just really hope that it is a star wars game like rogue squadron or x-wing vs tie fighter it is being developed for. Imagine the final battle over Endor in episode VI having this kind of multiplayer where you can choose to play as the rebels or the empire.

Perfect fit for this tech IMO.

It says with "real money on the line". That sounds a little bit odd and like a red flag for BS. However, if it is in any way true, it will be some kind of crummy little game like 1v100 (another guy mentioned that too) rather than an actual IP of any kind....

Since they said dealing with real money, I don't know how they might be referring to a MMO. However, maybe they were talking about a paid subscription. I suppose they may have been talking about an MMO if that is the case. Either way, I don't see the point in a server that supports 300,000 people. Even a MMO. I suppose it might be cheaper to maintain in the long run, or more sustainable, but I really don't see what benefit gamers get?!

I see that as more of a General Xbox Live Server. It doesn;t just talk about gaming, it talks about all the other functions of windows live and live featres. I think its more of an elaborate way to bring the community closer to just beyond the avatar system, No game will ever host 300,000 players at once anytime with our current level of technology. Not even in next gen gaming.

well in this project I don't seeimpossibilitiesbut I seedifficulties this could be done in about 2-5 years and Microsoft didn't just made that 300,000 number up but I think that there will be one map that is ridiculously huge and that would fit 300,000 players and the game would be a little more social and on the other hand this would be called super MMO and imagine 300,000 players are in one virtual world exploring meter by meter and In my opinion I think it would be fun to play

well i think the problem with MMos on consoles is that they are made for pcs i mean i someone made an MMO from the Ground up with consoles in mind im sure it could work but then theres also the sub fee which is tuff since we pay for live.

in all likelyhood it's not even for any IP, it probably has more to do with offering dedicated to servers to current gen games.

That's, that's incredibly hard to do. I could only understand if they were making an MMO or game show-like game. But if they did an action game, like MAG, then no. This won't work. MAG still has to prove it can work well with the 256 player formula.

I am guessing an MMORPG of some sort.. they have been looking to get one on the 360 for a while. Now I highly doubt it will be a world with 300,000 all in the area.. I am guessing simply split servers that update among themselves (for economic purposes). Anyway for the money paid out to use Xbox live it is about time they gives us a reason to be paying it :P

I am more interested in the money aspect, I LOVE to gamble, and if this is indeed a game that allows you to gamble real money based on how you perform in game, I don't care what it is, I am buying it on release :)

Not going to happen. They want to present a family console.. How will that image go if the introduce real money gambling?
