If you're looking for a challenge as well as old school turn based combat, Lost Odyssey's your best bet. I have both and LO's the better of the two, but you should really get around to getting Eternal Sonata sometime.

LO!

i couldnt play ES too much cuz it got sooooooo kiddie i kicked my dog in the face in anger! Its a cool game to look at and play and im all for kiddie games, but i draw the line at that game. bummer too because i liked the game just not the characters.

On the side note LO has annoying kids too! but not untill your amped enough not to care.

Eternal Sonata is what a classic JRPG is. Moving soundtrack and story with the usual combat system. The art style really details the story and characters.

I honestly loved both the games and both are in my top 5 rpgs of teh last while.

But overall id give Lost Odyssey my vote. Both are good rpgs but if you can only buy one then get Lost Odyssey and maybe just rent Eternal Sonata.

I personally gave Lost Odyssey a 9.5/10 and i think Eternal Sonata deserves a 8.5 at the lowest or a 9.0 at the most.

You should really try to get both. Eternal Sonata was really fun and extremely innovative and imaginative, with beautiful color schemes, amusing characters, and a fun story. I haven't gotten around to finishing Lost Odyssey yet, but I love it as well. It has a simple, yet fun battle system, characters that are easy to get into, and a pretty good storyline, though a bit predictable.

i would buy lost odyssey and rent eternal sonata. i beat it in 9 hours, and i'm sure it can be done much faster cause i took my time and trained up pretty high. lost odyssey is about 40 hours, plus a ton of awesome sidequests, and def worth buying.

Lost Odyssey definitely. Eternal Sonata, to put it positively, is very much a niche game. Some people think it's great, personally I found it mind-numbingly slow, repetitive and up itself. Lost Odyssey doesn't have those problems.

no way. i know that the game is more linear that most RPGs, but it is in no way a 9 hour ride.
