Wait so what is the actual answer?

I am looking into getting a new Xbox360 (current PS3 owner) and was initially deterred earlier on (we are talking nearly 4 years ago now) from buying an Xbox360 because of the RROD.

And where would you guys recommend picking one up? A lot of my friends have been noticing good deals online. I was thinking more along the lines of a Costco where the longer ability to return might be a good idea if hardware issues are still around?

Thanks for the help.

New slims are fine. Pick them up anywhere. I just bought a holiday bundle from Gamestop and got 2 free games 3 months of xbox live, a headset and a 250 gig hard drive built in for $299. Love it more then the original xboxes.

You can get the RROD if your power cable isn't connected properly, same with the visual connections. Just check to make sure they're good.

It's an Xbox, Of course it has RROD. Sometimes when the AV cords are not plugged in or the power cord is malfunctioning, the RROD will appear. I have had it on my Xbox 360, didn't cause any damage to it.

the slim is possible to get the RROD, the thing is they didnt install red lights in it the console, so technically it dosent turn red, but it can get the problem still
