So for all you 360's players who love the GTA series and are waiting for GTA V I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. From this article sounds like the 360 couldn't hold the objects that their gonna put in GTA V.

GTA V??? The DLC for GTA IV hasn't even come out yet... so I doubt RockStar would bring out a GTA V...

They have that Chinatown Wars for the DS I think and Los Santos Stories for the PSP...

I seen about this on a few different sites so I don't think that a fanboy is just trying to slam it. But I could be wrong. I just ran across this and wanted to see what you guys think.

Like Agent_Kaliaver was talking about multiple disks sorta like the Driver games. But you would think in the year 2012 we shouldn't have to do that with all the technology.

i think microsoft should stop selling arcade versions xbox and put hard drives in all them then wont be a big problem you the 2 disc you rip the last big of memory off then you play from the first or even rip that one if u have enough space. but ya it is stupid we have to deal with it but even in 2012 and for much much more time you cant just update a drive through the internet but maby microsoft could evolve the dvd but w/e non of this would been a problem if Microsoft just putted hd.dvd drive in the xboxs

It's not Rockstar that is deciding the fate of GTA V coming to the 360, it's Microsoft. The article is saying that with all the stuff that is gonna be in it won't be able to fit on a 360 disc. Also about some of the 360's not having a hard drive which is another problem with it.

Flagmaster, if it was just as easy to grab a game install it on the hard drive and be able to play it without the game (if thats what your trying to say) many many people would just rent the games and do that and return it. Then they would have a free game basically. That's just like someone giving you a cd and then ripping it on your computer and putting it on your iPod. The company and artist are losing money.

???????????? umm look how its set up now? u install a game and if u wanna play u put disc in to confirm you still have the game..... and if 2 disc it would work the 2 one would just be small part of info then u install the first one if you like and u put the first to play the game . and when u buy the game it come with 2 disc and when u sell it come with 2 disc. if u dont have the 2 disc installed u cant play the game so why would some one just buy the 2 disc off ebay when they also need the first to actal play no point because u wont be able play it with out the other

Given the amount of time it took Rockstar between GTA SA and GTA IV, it will probably be another 3-4 years before we see GTAV, and we will probably be onto the next xbox console by then. Anyway Rockstar still have two sets of DLC to produce and that seems to be taking them far too long - both should have been released by now if you believed their hype at launch in April.

Umm yes remember the shevering isles expansion for the 360 could be bought on disks, you might be underestimating how powerfull the xbox is, the thing isn't stupid. I wouldn't buy another GTA because they killed it with 4 the game had no replay value(o wait theres an expansion pack coming out. Any way yes the console will find the data installed on the HDD just like it always did.

The multiple disc situation is normally an almost non-existant problem, considering that for a fairly linear game you will probably only change the disc every 10 hours or so. However it does make an interesting situation for a free roaming game like GTA, as you would have to have transition points, and that would sort of ruin the game.

Rockstar already said that the DVD format, and lack of guarenteed HDD, hurt the development of GTA4 (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=163233), so imagine the effect on GTA5. To be honest it doesn't bother me as I dont like GTA, but I know a lot of people adore it, and its an important point that will need resolving.

The stupidity in this thread scares me. Rockstar hasn't even announced that there will be a GTA V this gen. How can you possibly assume that, that article has any credibility as a source for news? If space is the issue, multiple discs is the solution. Microsoft even allows you to install on your hard-drive. There: two solutions to the problem that your crappy article full of assumptions has presented.

Oh please. The GTA IV sold better on the 360 than it did the PS3. Unless Rockstar likes the idea of GTA V being the worst selling GTA game in the past seven year, it'll be on the 360.

Actually, since April they have changed something. With the new NXE GUI you can install games onto the HD, and that is a fairly "drastic" change if you ask me. Being able to install games to the drive makes the whole 360's storage medium is insignificantly small, a moot point.

Then if you go and actually READ the article, no where does it say that GTA V won't be coming to the 360, it just says that IF GTA V(assuming it is ever made) needs as big a storge boost as did GTA IV over GTA 3: San Andreas, that the Xbox would need to come up with a new way to hold game media.

They have, so why bring this up now? It is like saying Halo 3 can't come out on the xbox right after the 360 was launched. Kinda silly.

Yeah the size of memory it can hold on the disk, and of course ps3 is winning with the blu-ray discs. While Microsoft is still behind so they either have to find a new kind of disc that hold more memory games like GTA V (that might come out) won't be able to fit onto the disc.

Yeah! Maybe not for the Xbox 360 but, rather, for its successor judging from the lifespan of the console itself. Even though, Microsoft said the lifespan of the Xbox 360 will be one day longer than the PlayStation 3's which is 10 years. Needless to say, it does not mean that they will not introduce the new Xbox before that.

Both Microsoft and Sony introduced their current generation consoles after 4 and 6 years into the previous generation consoles' lifespans, respectively. Moreover, nothing has been announced in the very near future, except Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for Nintendo DS in 2009. In 2009, the Xbox 360 will have reached the 4th year of its 10 year lifespan. So, yea...

really? i bought Lost Odyssey for $60 about a week after it came out. there was a total of four discs included and I didn't pay a cent more than the regular price you'd see anywhere else. unless MS somehow changed their policy recently, but I doubt it.

it basically comes down to this, Microsoft has to either do something different with their systems and make it so it can support more higher end stuff like the ps3 or they will lose some of the new stuff that is coming out in the future years.

MS doesnt add extra to the retail price, they charge the devs.

No, it basically comes down to THIS. Once again, they ALREADY did. It is called NXE. With it you can install games on you HDD. That means they can, theoretically, even have games that use more space than you can fit on a Blue Ray disc.

That still doesn't count for if it had multiple discs. Say you download them both you would still have to keep switching them back and forth cause it still has to read the disc. Also I thought installing them to your hard drive just make the game load faster?

I only forsee them making the next game like 4-5 GB larger than this game, so I would assume they could just use 2 discs for it. That's an easy 18-19 GB which would difinitely fit the game.

No, like on a computer when installing from multiple discs, the game is then on the HDD, so the disc in the tray is only to verify that you still have the game and didn't sell it, or it isn't a rental or what have you. If installed you wouldn't need to switch discs except when installing.

That still doesn't count for if it had multiple discs. Say you download them both you would still have to keep switching them back and forth cause it still has to read the disc. Also I thought installing them to your hard drive just make the game load faster?koolaidWTF
do your not geting it like i said before also put some info on a 2 disc and u install the info to your hard drive then you take the first disc and just play the game. oblivion did it and worked fine many pc games do it and works fine to the 2 part do you really understand whjy installing games make loading times faster? simple terms if u like the date is saved on the hardrive and the hardrive is transfer data much faster then the dvd drive reading the disc then transfars it if u wanna go all high tech about this we can
