With GTA IV's success, I believe it's just about time we return to San Andreas for the next console installment to the series. Whereas GTA Vice City Stories let us return to Vice City, and Liberty City Stories let us return to Liberty City, either a handheld San Andreas Stories (which is long overdue) or a re-vamped San Andreas for GTA IV seems to be the only logical idea for a setting to the newest game.

However, Liberty CIty's re-vamp was far different from it's original counterpart. So if San Andreas were to be redone, we'd have to expect a drastic change on the layout of the actual city. Anyway, if we were to see a GTA V would you like to see the state of San Andreas as the playable area?

yeah, I'd like to; considering San Andreas is arguably one of the best (if not the best) GTA citiy/ies...

unfortunately though, I doubt they'll use San Andreas, or a revamped version of it, in the next GTA.

GTA's release line on the previous generation of consoles:

GTA III (2001)

GTA: Vice City (2002)

GTA: San Andreas (2004)

and then PSP spin-off versions (GTA: LCS and GTA: VCS) of GTA III and GTA: Vice City in 2005 and 2006, respectively.

So, basically, what they did with the previous gen of consoles with GTA was release an 'original' GTA, and then two 'spin-offs', before releasing two more 'spin-offs' on the PSP.

Another GTA title on the PSP in the near future is unlikely (but possible), because of titles like Midnight Club occupying Rockstar's priorities right now. However, I think the next GTA will either be a San Andreas adaptation for the PSP, or another GTA spin-off for the PS3 and Xbox 360, which may or may not be based on Vice City/an improved version of Vice City. I highly doubt the next GTA will be 'GTA V', though.

All I'm waiting for is the GTA IV DLC anyway :P

Well, if that's how you feel. Then I don't know what to say, but ATM has a point, Vice City may be the next game setting we see. There are much more references to Vice than San Andreas in IV so that could be a hint as to where our next storyline will take place.

London or Asia eh? Well, i suppose Rockstar could venture out into different countries for future games, but I think that's highly unlikely. They could possibly make the setting Hong Kong, or Tokyo, but at the moment, I don't think they'd do that.

Grand Theft Auto Toronto would be sweet but i know it won't happen. I would want it to be in Australia.

To be honest, Ive played a lot of GTA and san andreas was the worst. constantly refering to the streets and taking them back and all that hard core black gangster **** what a load of tripe. But of course rockstar continue to work with stereotypes. Theres not enough stuff to spend your money on the missions are always too **** hard. i quit gta they can stick the **** game up there arse.

I think it could be cool though I could do without all the miles of open countryside. If any I would like to see a current gen revision of Vice City. Since the original game was set in the 80s I would love to see what has become of Vice City in the years since.

What was so funny about San Andreas is the fact that about 90% of the game accurately described modern gang life for young african american folk in the "hood" if you will. Yet most of the players of the game thought it to be overexaggeratedstories made up to make an excuse for killing people virtually.

But that's another subject. For me, San Andreas made a lot of GOOD changes to the GTA game series.

Yeah the countryside was a bit of a hassle wen trying to get somewhere fast, but with GTA IV's taxi feature, and bus lines, or train, and tram lines(well not cross state but cross city), transport could be easy. And San Andreas has planes as well!

Yup all unique.

Whereas all GTA IV missions are pretty much..

Drive from 'A' to 'B' and kill 'X' and then return to 'A' again.

Or my favourite.

Drive from 'A' to 'B' and kill 'X' and pick up the drugs and then return to 'A'.

Oh wait.. barely any difference. The most unique mission for GTA IV I would say is that "Paper Trail" mission or whatever its called where you need to fly the chopper so that the other guy can shoot it down with an RPG.

I'd like GTA V to have a female caucasian protagonist and have it set in Tokyo.

Lemme guess, you ride ponies then giant gundam bots and have a pokemon side-kick. Leave the franchise alone! please! lol :D (of course, i'm kidding). I just thing it would benefit from a more recognised location. Not to say that tokyo isn't one of the biggest cities in the world, but in general, the west doesn't relate to it. Same reason they shouldn't have a female protagonist; their fanbase wouldn't relate to it.

Or just let you costimize your own character like in saints row. That was a pretty cool feature and i enjoyed that a lot more then just a new stereotypical person.

Best main character from the gta games in my opinion was Tommy in Vice City, voiced by awesome Ray Liotta.

I forgot to mention that there are no guns, just a variety of katanas and ninja stars :D.

GTA4 is a great game, but the time has come for something drastic to happen, because even though this formula has been able to remain fresh and even better as each game comes along, I feel that if they did the same thing again, it wouldn't be that way. No matter how killer the graphics are.

I think you could have it in Tokyo, and I guess it could remain a dude, but you could be a good cop gone bad. Like, your brother was killed or something so you break the law for vengance...

:| GTA 5 will not be a PS3 exclusive especially since the 360 version sold about twice as many copies as the PS3 version.

I hated Liberty City, and thats mostly why I didn't like GTA 4 very much. But San Andreas was the best GTA city, it had everything, open land, unique areas... any kind of improved remake of it would be so great as long as they fix the current GTA game engine to run over 10 fps, that would be great.

I would absolutely love a revamped version of san andreas for the next GTA. I WOULD LOVE IT.

San Andreas had the best missions.

Break into military base, steal plane, shoot stuff with planes, return plane.

skydive into dam place and do something I forgot

etc...

Exaggerated nonsense. Fun. Just what I like in my games.
