Which one do you think is better, I was planning on getting either one( for 360), but lots of my friends prefer GH2, but many say GH3 has a better track selection, but is a lot harder. What do you think?

I think whichever you play first, you will like more.

I started with 3 and didn't like 2 when I bought it later. But my main issue with #2 is the fact almost all of the songs are by cover bands, and most are covered poorly. The tracks by the original artists in #3 are awesome.

I've played GH II maybe everyday since I bought it last summer, but Im finally getting GH III this week so I'll be playing that soon. The second is by far my favourite one.

Just look at the track list and see what appeals to you. The 2 versions aren't different enough to be decided on anything other than the songs. My vote is for 3.

Hmm, well GH2 has much better notecharts and a better setlist (that's just my opinion though). GH3 has online mode, but other than that it doesn't really improve. Except maybe that it's much easier to do Hammer On's and Pull Off's in 3 than it was in 2.

rock band!!!

i just bought it yesterday, and although it took some time to get used to the drums, it was awesome!!! im not the type of person to sing in front of others, but even the vocals on rock band was a ton of fun.

i havent played gh3 so i dont really know what to say about your original question.

I think GH3 is easier, but GH2 has better songs... what are all these people talking about saying that GH3 is harder? you can hold the hammer-ons for 5 seconds before the note gets there, you actually have to be precise and HAMMMER ON for GH2.

Ive played all three guitar heros and find GH3 to be my favourite. It has a slightly different interface which took me a bit getting used to after playing 1 and 2 (which look the same since they were both made by harmonix and 3 was done by neversoft). Also I just enjoyed the setlist of GH3 more but its all about what songs you like. GH2 was still really good but i just enjoyed more of the GH3 songs, probably because it has increased in difficulty and presents more of a challenge.

If you have siblings that like to play get Rock Band. Tons of fun and the customization of the character is great. GH3 is much harder than Rock from what I've played. I personally like the songs on GH3 more.

I agree with that dude juicen pancakes GH2 is more harder then GH3. One thing that makes GH3 easier is the hammer on and pull off techniques which for some reason are harder on GH2 and even more difficult on the original GH. Also I like the note chart better on GH3. In GH2 it can be a pain to distinguish the the white hammer and pull off notes from the regular notes especially on the expert difficulty where they come at you at a extremly blistering fast pace. On GH 3 it is much more easier to see them since there a real clear white. I no expert on GH 2 and 3. I can do hard on both games. Right now Im working my way through GH 2 on expert trying to figure out how to nail some of the crazy guitar solos. I can do the long the entire long solo on Cult of Personality on hard in GH 3. There is no way in hell I could the same exact solo if the Harmonix would of put the song in GH2. So go with GH 3 and from is you want a real challenge buy GH 2. Whatch out for that Jordan solo on GH2

I am a n00b to both games but I prefer Guitar Hero 2 simply because the difficulty ramps up more manageably and I like the songs better. I think GH3 track list is mostly garbage and they seem to expect you to be good at the game already even on the easy setting.

Get rockband if you can. If not, get GH2. For whatever reason, GH3 just seems off. I can't bring myself t play it anymore...

Hm... it seems like a tie. Rock Band is a tad too expesnive, and I saw a brand new GH3 for $90, I might get it. I prefer the Les Paul, and I might buy 2 seperate, if it's cheap.

I agree. I bought gh2, then got gh3 the day it came out. But rock band is way better with it's other instruments playable, especially the drums.

Rock Band is really only good if you have friends who can play at your house on a regular basis so they get good enough for the world tour. The seperate career for the instruments aren't really challenging compared to the GH series. Bottom line, I find GH much more fun with a single buddy or by yourself, but Rock Band is a better party game.

I don't see why people say GH2 is easier. Go play Raining Blood for me and tell me its easier than anything from GH2 other than Jordan, Six, and a song from the last setlist (depending on the player). I've beaten Jordan more than Raining Blood, and thats saying something.

exactly the opposite with me I bought 3 first then 2 as a disc, and thought 2 was better because of one thing only: It was funner. All the songs were specially selected for GH and were fun. GH 3 has needlessly hard songs but better track list (not notechart, track list). Edit: So I think you should buy GH 3 for the wireless guitar, then buy GH 2 new for 30$.

guitar hero 3 has a better set list than 2, but the tradeoff is that it is more difficult, especially at expert, it's not a really big difference at easy and medium, but when u get up there it is much harder. u can always buy the gh3 game with the controller( its way better than the gh2 controller) then buy gh2 on its own so that way u have both

I think GH3 is easier then GH2. On GH2 i can't play hard at all really, and on GH3 it's so much easier. I would go with GH3 IMO, since there are downloadable content and stuff..

GHIII was better for the following reasons.

Better songs

More master tracks

Online play

Better graphics

Harder Difficulty (GHII was just too easy for me on expert, and i like more of a challenge)

I know that one isn't true, since I bought gh1 first and I hate the track selection in it.

But as for this brawl, as the tc said, I believe gh3 has a better track selection, but gh2 is more fun to play. Mostly because the notes aren't random. Like the dragonforce intro on extreme, doesn't even have the electric guitar part in it. Only the acoustic. Then on some other songs, notes are just random sometimes.
