Theyre only 59.99.

Woohoo, 10 more bucks?

Devs spend over a year making these games to keep me entertained then you can damn well bet they get my money aslong as I think the game is good enough.

Well said. I agree with you on that. If their too expensive just rent them first or wait for the price to go down on the game you want.

The good days of $49.99 games are with the old technology. The games are better so they are worth the 10 bones more.

Good old days....Wait a minute now. I spent 83 dollars on chronotrigger back in the day. Not to mention another 75 on street fighter 2, and 85 on shining force 2. Good thing they got rid of cartridges in the "good old days"

I dont have a problem spending $60 on a game now. The $50 price tag had been around for 20 some years and it was long overdue for a rise in price. If you factor in inflation than games at $60 today is actually a much better deal than spending $50 on an NES game back in the day.

I felt this way until I saw how much the $60 is really necessary in the Dec. issue of OXM, the extra $10 isn't being done to make a quick buck, if it wasn't for this extra amount, the games devekopers would hardly profit at all from a next-gen game...

Why does it cost so much more than computer games? The extra $10-$20 goes to MS doesn't it?

The really retarded thing is Canadians still pay $10 more per game and our dollar is worth more than the US dollar now. Why is it that Aussie games are so (relatively) expensive anyway? I lived in Sydney for 4 years and didn't find the cost of living overall any worse than Vancouver (both cities are ridiculous though).

Yeah games aren't cheap. But you have to get used to it. I only get mad when its a "game" like Shadowrun. I mean 70 bucks for some lack luster multi payer maps, WAY TOO MUCH.

To be honest I wouldn't mind, the PS2 was arguably the greatest system ever with one of the best librairies of games of all time. But I still love my 360 :P

Ok, what you said makes sense and I agree but remember if a game does well these days it makes about 60 million dollars not counting DLC now granted I'm not sure what the production costs are for games these days but I doubt its any where near that much money so I guess what I'm trying to say is they could have stuck with the 49.99 price tag and still made their money back and a lot more.

You should be grateful buddy, the games in UK are FAR more expensive. Newly released games are around £44-50 pounds, which i believe is up in the nineties for the $?

Why does it cost so much more than computer games? The extra $10-$20 goes to MS doesn't it?

$9 goes to the publisher overhead, developement costs eats up $20, Microsoft Licensing to Manufacturing is $12, $7 goes to marketing, and $12 goes to the retailer. Nothing's really making much of a profit, though you're right, MS is still taking the biggest chunk...

I too miss the good old days. I think it's BS that the technology is better so they can/should charge more. Wasn't the PS2 a huge step up from the PS1? How come the price for games stayed the same? As a matter of fact, game prices went down over the years considering NES games were sold for $70. Some games like Mass Effect or Halo 3 are worth $60 since they offer a great deal of content. That said, why are games that don't offer lengthy single player or any multiplayer functionality still $60? I'm against flat rate pricing. If a game offers more than you should pay more, if it's a quick play through then the price should reflect that as well.

All this talk about the good old days is crazy. I remember paying $50 for Zelda back in the 80's so seeing how games are $60 is not that big of deal. And on a side note I payed $200 for the first nintendo with the robot. The inflation of video games if quite minute compared to other luxury items. Like when cars were $3000 and all the horse power u could ever want.

If you consider inflation, a $50 game in 1988 would be about $85 today. So, in reality, games are cheaper today at $60 than in 1988 at $50. Gamers overseas are paying closer to what games would cost given inflation. US gamers are paying less. Granted, there are additional costs to games overseas, including regionalization, translation (if necessary), tariffs, etc. Still, overseas gamers are getting screwed. Sorry, guys.
