I recently got a new modem and router to match my speed of internet I am getting and both are capable of gigabit speeds. So I am just wondering if the the Xbox360 has gigabit capability? Thanks.
You must have insanely fast internet if you need beyond 100mb/s network... thats 10 megs a second download, i don't think have to worry about anything faster... a few gig download would only take few minutes at that speed.
1000 mb network is useful though for doing big file transfers, just don't need it for internet stuff since the ping won't be any better unless you had internet that could somehow go beyond that for normal internet customers... and 100/1000 routers are backwards compatible with your xbox.

Damn, First World Problems, eh? but no, the xbox doesn't not have that capability, in fact I don't think Ethernet can reach that speed, you'd need to run fiber optic throughout your house to take full advantage. FYI your internet would be 200 times faster then mine...
Ethernet speeds are cat5-100Mbitb/s cat5e-350Mbit/s cat6-1000Mbit/s over 100 meters upto 10Gigabit with cable lengh below 50 meters cat6e-10Gigabit And tc i doubt you have a 1 gig internet speed so what you bought was a waste unless you wanted the router for internal data transfers
The 360S model support N and theoretical wifi speeds up to 1000 Mbps
Please note that's only between the router and the console.

The S may have 802.11n, but you won't be getting 1000Mbps, theoretical or otherwise...I'm not gonna bother to do the research, but it will either contain a 150 or 300 Mbps chip; 1000 is a pipe dream. ...but yea, I wasn't gonna bother giving the kid a full lesson; if he wants to think he'll get 1giga across the net, let him...I thought it would be fair answer his question and leave it at that.
