CoD4, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Assassin's Creed, Forza 2, The Orange Box... all are good choices for 360... we can't make informed decision because we don't know what games you like...
theres so many choices and you gave us nothing to work with so I'll recommend some awesome games that anyone should like: Bioshock, Mass Effect, Oblivion, and Eternal Sonata if your an rpg gamer like myself.
You'll want an single player and a multiplayer game, if you like RPG then OBlivion with it's 200+ hours is enough to keep you busy. For multiplayer there are a LOT of good choices but I would pick one that has an active community like Halo 3 or CoD4 (dont ask which one is best, or your topic will overload). If you dont like RPG then perhaps a GTA clone like Saint's Row is a good choice for a single player game or perhaps death rising. Racing has a lot of good titles aswell, PGR4 is a good arcade racer and Forze Motorsport 2 is a good simulation racer. If you want RTS games then get C&C3 or LOTR: BfME if you like fantasy games.
