Hello all. I have been off xbox live for quite some time; namely because I didn't have $60 for a gold account year and I was also hooked on WoW for that time. When I came back to playing my xbox, I suffered the RROD and am now in the process of getting a new xbox 360. I really want the new slim models because of built in wi-fi. That feature will be incredibly handy to have in the house and save the hassle of running cords around. I am not satisfied with the 4 gb and 250 gb choices. 4 gb is cutting it too small in my opinion and 250 gb is overkill for someone like me. I don't think I could ever fill that. I still have all my saves on my old 20 gb hard drive. Even with all my saves and dlc, I still have about 7.5 gb left. While I have been away, has content began taking up a lot of hd space? ie Kinect updates and new dashboard updates. I have seen videos online about fitting your old hard drives into the new slim models. I have no problem going through with that process. So, would 20 gb hard drive still be good enough for someone like me? A few things to take into account. I'm not big into netflix or any other media offerings. I just like to play games, demos, and arcade games. Also, I have been very conservative of my hard drive space. Meaning I delete old map packs that I don't need anymore like Gears 1 maps and Halo 3 maps, old save fils for games I will never play again. Once I feel that I am finished with demos I delete them. I only download and keep a handful of demos on my hard drive. The only dlc I downloaded comes from maybe 4 or 5 games. I would hate to have to decide between 4 gb and 250 gb. However, if people think 20gb would be sufficient and work today, I would much prefer that method and save some money to spend on games. I would mostly use my xbox to play games, d/l game trailers and demos, and a few arcade games. What is your opinions given my playstyle?

Oh, and to add to it. I just REALLY want to play Skyrim and I know my PC can't handle it. So therefore, I'm left with my xbox 360. That's why I am coming back to xbox and xbox live

20gigs would be adequate if you only want to have save files and are content with having only a few demos or arcade games at the same time.

Installing games to the HDD wouldn't be an option I suspect as most games weigh in at around 6gigs.

So if you're happy enough with that, then cool. I've got 250GB so I never have to delete anything really.

If you don't want to buy a 250gig hard drive and are planning to fit the old HDD into the new slim, you could always buy a 60 or 120GB HDD off eBay or somewhere, they're dirt cheap nowadays since the launch of the slim.

I have the 100 or 120 or whatever it is, and it's a bit small for me. I have quite a few DLC that are huge and like to keep quite a few games installed, though.

It depends. Not for me because I download a lot of full games and arcade games from XBL. Not to mention, I install all of my games off the disc. If you are using it for only save games/updates then it should be fine.

Your 20 gig HD won't work with a slim console. The slim uses a different type of hard drive. The 250 gig one is the only one avaliable for it.

Everyone's missing the point. He says he wants a slim console for the built in wi-fi, so whether or not 20 gb is enough space is irrelevant. The slim only supports the 250 gig hard drive.

first off 20gb is more like 10gb. AND i hated it. i always dins my self deleted demos, game installs left and right. It got annoying, DO your self a favor and get the 250gb model. NOW if your just getting console for one game because your pc can't run it. why not just spend the 300 or so bucks and get new graphics card and more ram? just a ideal

Thank you everyone for your input. I have given it a lot of thought and have decided to go with balfe1990 suggestion and buy a xbox slim 4g model and buy 60g or 80g separate. That should be more than enough for someone like me. Thank you everyone for your input. I feel some dlc in the future may be huge and I wouldn't have enough space for it.

Bear in mind that the old Hard Drives (20GB, 60GB, 120GB) don't officially fit into the Slim but there are ways around it.

I've never tried it so it's up to you whether you want to do it or not as it involves a bit of DIY. It may or may not be risky, you can decide for yourself:

Okay, for the third time, you can't use the old hard drives on a slim. The only hard drive that works is the 250 gig.

Don't use a hard drive for your saves. They fail. Use a USB pen. Flash memory is much more reliable and you can also back your saves up with programs like 360revolution. My other advice is to get a 4GB and buy a third party HDD if you find the disc drive too loud. You can find new 4GB's for $180 shipped, and new 250GB drives for as low as $40. They have to be flashed though so the 360 recognizes them (takes like 2 minutes)

I never thought of that actually.

You can just forget about the hard-drive, USB sticks are a far cheaper alternative.

That would work, but it is significantly slower saving and loading from a flash drive. At least it's slower in my experience. Also, you can only use 16 gigs of external memory.

Yes, but what you're suggesting involves modification and may void your warranty.

The Xbox 360 S is just 299.99 with that 250GB HDD. Since your old Xbox YLOD just get the New Xbox slim with the large HDD even if you will never fill that HDD. It is not worth them time and effort to shoehorn an 20GB HDD into a Xbox S console.

I bought a 320GB HDD Red Gears of War Console and I still have my old White 20GB HDD console. So yep 20GB is enough for me, since I just use it for Game saves.

But 20GB is not enough in 2011. That is why I upgraded to Console S

I think it's actually 16gigs per stick, which allows up to 32GB assuming you have two.

I've been able to manage with one. But you do have to make choices as what to delete when you want a new demo or Game on Demand, so it can be annoying.
