While most of us have kind of looked at NSMBU with mostly "meh" feelings, there is some big news coming out on that front.

First off we already know that the Super Luigi expansion will not only be a $19.99 DLC but good guy Nintendo is releasing it as a full disc later this year for $29.99. See MS this is how you encourage people to go digital. Not with DRM and forced online connections, but by making the digital options available sooner and cheaper.

And for those who love to complain about the clunky WiiU pad, 2 bits of info.

First there's going to be an update to use the Pro Controller, you know the one that looks like a 360 controller for those afraid to try new things.

Also while as of right now it's only in Japan, Nintendo is FINALLY making their own rechargeable batteries for the gamepad and Wiimotes which up until this we had to either burn through AAs or rely on third party devices.

I can't help but wonder if Nintendo saw all the negativity after the XBO reveal and is doing what they can to get some of those jaded Xbox gamers to come over.

I like how the NSMBU Luigi DLC is nearly an entire new game. Whenever I get a Wii U, I will be picking both up. Maybe Nintendo could release a boxed set of both in one for a reduced price one day.

Well that's the thing, people complain about the "New" series not innovating like Mario once did but none of them are horrid games. They play well, have good level design and are still fun to play. The series may have got complacent but it's far from being downright horrible like Sonic was there for a while. At least Mario never turned into a werewolf or had a horrible love story.

Even New Super Mario Bros. 2 while not mind blowing is far from being a horrible, unplayable mess.

That's sort of the thing with Nintendo. They're like Pixar in that the worst of their stuff is still better than a lot of entertainment out there.
