I was pretty sure they were called Hylians, i got this from OoT. Exspically when the Deku Tree Sprout tell link "You a Hylian". So when Capcom made the mistake in FFA and said Hyrulean everybody says it. I trust pure nintendo Zelda not capcom zelda, even still the word Hylian is used more in a Zelda series than Hyrulean. Am i right to primarily call them Hylians? Since the greatest game on earth used that name? Or am i missing something here?

Hylians are the pointy-eared inhabitants of Hyrule town, Hyruleans are inhabitants of the land of Hyrule, of any species.

... I have never really heard of Hyrulean... Calpalg is correct, that is what Hylians are. That is why Link and Zelda are called Hylians in the first place :P

Hyruleans are the races of Hyrule itself. So, they are Gerudos, Zoras, Hylians, etc.

Good question. I don't know the answer, but according to this page I found, it was after the Imprisoning War where the first paragraph states, "The Kingdom survived, but after these tragic events, the blood of the Hylia people grew so thin they could no longer be called Hylians and their descendant citizens of the kingdom became simply Hyrulians, the wisdom of the ancient ones, only surviving in their few scrolls they left behind." This is confusing me now... Hylians are the race of people that the Goddesses chose as their own. So, therefore they can communicate through telepathy with Hylians. But... when the Imprisoning War happened, the Hylians began to get so weak, they no longer had the power that the Goddesses gave them to communicate, so, they lost their name as the special humanoid race known as the Hylians, and simply became considered as normal humanoids with no power... like the Gorons, Zoras and other races that really don't have any "magical" powers, they just became "Hyrulians". I guess to answer your question, they weren't officially "Hylians" until OoT. I'm most likely wrong, but you bring up an interesting question. I hope somebody knows the correct answer.

Wow ya now I remember the who hyrulian deal from link to the past that they were just others who had moved to live in hyrule not actual hylians.  At first I heard the hyrulian thing and was like, "what the hell is a hyrulian?"  because they don't mention it much at all during the coarse of any of the game despite that small mention of them
