What are some of the problems you've had at your local GameStop?DonatelloToAll
For me I would say lack of selection would be my biggest issue. The only other problem I have had is 7 years ago I bought a copy of Warcraft II Battlechest which was used and the disc inside was a burned copy.

Company policy when I worked at EB Games was to not accept scratched discs for trade in. Even if we could fix the disc we were instructed not to take them in. They were just doing their job.

SERIOUSLY?
SERIOUSLY?

Yeah I was disapointed big time because they didn't have a replacement copy for me, I had to take store credit. There were 2 discs in the box but one was disc 1 and one was a burned copy of disc 1. Had it been a burned copy of disc 2 I would of just kept it.

I wonder why Gamestop would accept them in the first place...

My guess would be employees who lack the motivation and ambition to care about their job. Sad but in many cases true.

Policy may have been different or the Manager may have instructed his staff to be more lemnient. I can only speak for my store when I worked there for the short time I did. I turned several people down for trade ins for that reason.

It might have been, because there was a sign that stood there and it said they take in games scatched or notÂ

That's pretty bad with the sign there lol. We never had such a sign.

I've had similar experiences at work. I've had my store management try to get me to go against policy in regards to returns where I currently work but I have the return policy on a poster next to where I stand so it would be stupid of me and the store to try to change policy that is on a 3 foot tall poster next to me at all times. Customers would call me out on it every time.

I don't see why that employee thought it was worth his time to argue with you but I guess we would have to have been in his skin to fully understand it. I agree with you that with that sign being there they should have accepted the trade in.

oh well, i won't do that same mistake twice. The sad thing is that there isn't anywhere else i can trade my used games inÂ

I'm lucky because there are a couple pawn shop type stores near me that buy used games. I don't have any games to sell right now as I mainly game on PC though.

i have some that i want to sell, but that's the only shop hereÂ
[QUOTE="Eikichi-Onizuka"]I haven't shopped at Gamestop in forever, really don't like them. They sell opened games as new, and several times I've bought used games there that look like the discs were rubbed with sandpaper and had to return because they wouldn't work. ShadowofSonic
Never heard of any of that before, ever.
You haven't heard much about Gamestop then because new games being opened and sold as new is pretty common. Sandpaper is a little overexaggerated probably but there were in really bad condition. Not sure why anyone would accept trade-ins like that. I even remember the two games they were: Final Fantasy X and Uncharted 2. I would give them a pass on that though if not for the other things I don't like about them. I should say though, this applies to the brick and motor stores I've been to. I've never had any problems with the online store so if there is an exclusive I'll order online from them. (otherwise I prefer Amazon or Newegg because they always have free shipping and don't charge tax)
One thing I did really like about them though is the return policy(can return a used game within 7 days for any reason). Â

[QUOTE="Kman5507"]That sounds a bit exaggerated.ShadowofSonic
Exactly my thoughts.
When I worked at Gamestop we had a vacuum sealer in the back to reseal a new game if it got opened. This may be what he means.Â

Opened mistakenly?
No, they open games to remove the contents so they can put the case on the display self in a lot of stores. I've never seen them reseal, they just put a sticker on the case that says new.
I've also heard of brand new games being opened and played by employees but I've never seen that myself.Â
One time the guy at gamestop reserved the wrong game for me because he was too busy talking to himself. Kman5507
One guy dropped my new game because he was flipping it around.Â

ShadowofSonic
Sometimes opened mistakenly such as the employee put the wrong empty box on the shelf for display or sometimes the package just got torn.
Â
It's quite nice, actually. A certain one I go to has a great manger.ShadowofSonicÂ
Â
That is actually why I regard my short time with EB Games as the most fun I have ever had at a job. The store manager and assistant store manager were both great leaders who made a really fun working environment. Â It was just part time though, 1 or 2 shifts a week, and I found a full-time job. I would have stayed if I could of gotten full-time hours even though I make more money where I am now.
I don't know what I prefer. A fun working environment with little pay, or a miserable place with a lot of pay... Probably the miserable one.:P
bugbag
I'll take the fun.
