So we have a thread on movies and TV, and I thought why not books.

Is anyone hear big on books? Or what are you reading right now? And what are your favorite books?

I haven't read for a while, but recently have been getting back into it. Currently I'm reading a book called House of Leaves, and it's qutie amazing so far.

I'd heard that Game of Thrones was like the best thing on TV so I wanted to watch that, but before I did I read the book because I'm just that kind of person. Now I'm on the second book of A Song of Ice and Fire and I can safely say this is pretty much the best book series ever.

There's five so far with two more planned to be released. I haven't heard anybody complaining about a drop in quality so I can only assume the rest are as good as what I've read so far, and that's really REALLY good.

Yeah, loved the movie. Although the book has lots of things not mentioned in the movie at all, things I think could've made the movie 20% better.

Most books have added little gems that arnt in the films. But if everything from books was in the films that came from them they would all be as long as LOTR :P

On a related note; I don't know why all the fuss over Peter Jackson's directing... I end up dropping to sleep through all his movies. King Kong was... so damn boring.

Sorry to anyone who likes him. :/

I thought he did a good job on LOTR. And he did a good job on The Lovely Bones. I didnt think he was directing the upcoming Hobbit films but apparently he is? :|

And I think it might be, that and too many video games.

I love to read fantasy books, but I also love them when they don't take themselves too seriously. Hence, Terry Pratchet is one of my favourite authors :P

I should however mention that my favourite books are the gitchikers guide to the galaxy books by Douglas Adams. I still need to read the last 2, but I LOVE the ones I#ve read so far.

Sunday I started reading a book called The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and even though I have virtually no free time due to robotics I finished it yesterday. It's a romance about two cancer patients which was at once tragic and yet completely hilarious. In both this book and one of Green's previous books Looking for Alaska I loved how he could deal with things like our place in the universe and how we deal with death without seeming at all pretentious or over-written. In this novel in particular I loved how it was a cancer story but it derived its power from honesty rather than melodrama, and how it presents a complex portrait of flawed individuals rather than the one-sided praise of other cancer stories.

Also reading Their Eyes Were Watching God for AP English. It's alright.

Currently reading Star Wars: Darth Plagueis, probably the best Star Wars book in years.

I'm still not sure if I want to read the Game of Thrones books yet.  I'm loving the series and I've never been more pissed off in series before, but in a good way.

I do read quite a bit and pretty much about anything managed to finish 100 last year don't intend on doing the same this year though.

Let's see here would be my favorite books/ or Book series

  • Warriors
  • Percy Jackson & The Olympians/Heroes of Olympus
  • Inheritance Cycle
  • Left Behind Series
  • Robopocalypse
  • Horse how the Horse has Shaped Civlization
  • The Next World War
  • Nephilim Stargates
  • Timeline
  • The Dragon Riders of Pern: Dragon Heart
  • Halo The Fall of Reach
  • Stephen King's Under the Dome
  • Stephen king's Firestarter
  • Tiger's Curse
  • Howling Moon
  • Prophecy 20/20

Well that is all I can think of at the moment. Not reading anything at the moment might reread the Warriors series for a third time along with Inheritance Cycle.

Haven't read a book since it was homework at school

I lack the attention span required.

I only do some days, but can usually read for long periods of time and one day I managed to finish two books in a day that were roughly 480-500 pages and three books that were around 120-200 pages plus a 300 page or 400 page book.

That only happens if I read from morning to night. And I almost did buy Cowboys & Aliens book and The horse whisper will get into eventually.

I think I might reread Warriors Crookedstar's Promise and Under the Dome to start the year off with. haven't read anything since November either. Suppose something in common I have with Twilight, though I don't live in a Library, though I'm kind of getting there.

I've been like this for the longest time. I keep convincing myself I've got "better" things to do than read a novel.....which is quite annoying since I used to read a LOT when I was young. I really want to get back into reading.,,
