Out of the CDs you own, what are your favorite 5?

In no particular order.

-------------------

Mine are:

Guns N Roses: Greatest Hits

Collective Soul: (Blue Album.  No name)

Weezer:  (Blue Album.  No name)

Rotten Apples: Best of Smashing Pumpkins

Jimi Hendrix: Experience

Man that was harder than I thought. So many good albums.

In no particular order, I'm gonna have to say-

King's X: Dogman

At the Drive-In: Relationship of Command

Aerosmith- Just Pushed Play

Tool- Aenima

Dave Matthews Band- Busted Stuff

These aren't neccessarily my favorites, just five notables that come to mind. I don't really have favorite albums.

Too hard for me to decide, so I'll just list the last five CD's I've listened to:

Wu-Tang Clan - Wu Tang Forever

Eric B and Rakim - Paid in Full

Nas - Illmatic

GZA/Genius vs. DJ Muggs - Grandmasters

Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back

Oh, and of course I've been hearing a lot of my own album in progress.  I have all the beats done, so I've been listening to that, so I don't forget the specifics of the beats, then I'm always ready to write.

I gave a few people an instrumental version of my CD, since that's all I have right now and it's a subtle advertisement, disguised as a favor.

A Silver Mt. Zion - He Has Left us Alone but Shafts of Light Sometimes Grace the Corners of our Rooms

Thelonious Monk - Solo Monk

The Mars Volta - De-loused in the Comatorium

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

Free Moral Agents - Your Favorite Weapon

I'm pretty sure that covers everything except electronic music.  I'm basically going through a musical revolution right know so I listen to so many different things.  I have about 5 that could replace any of those in a week, but that's good for now.

And bastards, I've gotta hear some of your stuff.  If you uploaded it somewhere, lemme know.

I just got this CD, it is NICE:

And it's produced by one of my favorite producers, 9th Wonder, who is a HUGE inspiration to me, because he used the exact same program I use to make my beats, and his **** is NICE.  I suggest that anyone who wants a taste of Underground rap to go out and buy this, it was only 14 bucks here.

Oh, and Motive, I only have beats right now, but I uploaded the whole instrumental album at the Hip Hop Review Crew, they really liked it from the responses I got.

That CD was a disgrace to Biggie's name, of course because of Diddy's over-commercialized attempt to get all the "big stars" on it.

Biggie fans everywhere should pretend it doesn't exist.

This isn't the mid-90's, you can like both Pac and Biggie, lol, though both are overrated as hell (good MC's, just not as good as they're made out to be)

DVV512eak

Exactly, you just proved my point.  People think he's better than he was, lyrically, he was good, but he is outdone greatly by many others.

Pac can't touch KRS-One, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Chuck D, and they're just the obvious ones, shall I go on?

Also, what did Pac ever do for the Hip Hop Movement as a whole?  Not much, when he was alive all he did was instigate the self-conflict of the East and West Coast, and when he died as a martyr, he didn't do anything... if anything, credit the murderer for making him a martyr.

He's a good artist, entertaining to listen to, his ENERGY was hard to match, but lyrically, many surpass him, and he wasn't nearly as progressive for hip hop as people act like he is... even his sound, the west coast and G-Funk vibe, was invented by Dr. Dre with NWA, Pac had nothing to do with the conception of that.

And if you fall back on popular opinion for your argument, it shows you really don't know much and have no real basis for your thinking.

I don't state it as fact, it's stated as a very experienced opinion.  There are no facts in music besides the basic structure, apart from that it is all theory.

lol about the Chuck D comment, try Public Enemy and you might get better results.  What rap fan doesn't know that?
