I think you will struggle to get a new FPS game that is revolutionary as not its pretty much similar gameplay mechanics, you can get either realistic or arcade style so which would you prefer? What games do you like so we can get an idea of what to sugggest.

Something with a compelling story and campaign, backed up by a good not great, online mode.

Bioshock is top for me there then, but as I say it depends on what you like. People will suggest Gears of War 2 but you have stated elsewhere you dislike the game (which is fine) but give us an idea of what you do like so we can work from that.

I've looked at Bioshock, and it looks pretty nice, I'm thinking of it. I might go with an expansion for Crysis.

well it aint an fps per-say, but hitman blood money was a good purchase. Has some decent replay value as well with all the different approaches you can make per job you do.

Far Cry 2?? You might enjoy it due to:

A. It IS an interesting game.

B. It's new (sort of)!! :D

C. The map maker is absolutely awesome.

D. I highly doubt it's retarded. A lot of people seem to like it.

E. The graphics are beautiful, hands down.

F. Long story with a sandbox type of gameplay, so you can do what you want.

G. Weapons degrade!

I think that's all I've got for that game, but do realize I HAVE NOT PLAYED IT BUT AM GOING OFF WHAT MY FRIENDS AND OTHERS ARE SAYING. Try renting it before you buy it

I've played Far Cry 2. Since I've played Crysis and a bit of Far Cry 1, I'm quite familiar. Looking for something a bit more new.

Good call! I completely forgot about that! Four player co-op vs hordes of zombies! What could be better?

Its hard as you have set quite a task, a new game that is unique and has new ideas etc. Alot of games now are just repeats of old games with a bit of polish (whether you like it or not, I wont debate this as each to their own I say, I like new games but they arent revolutionary).

Maybe try Bioshock (top story and graphics), Half Life 2 (looks good even though its a few years old, good story, interesting mechanics like gravity gun, puzzels) but other than that Crysis and Far Cry 2 are probably the only decent FPS games of this year on PC so far (Left 4 Dead is third person isnt it?) but it should be good as long as you can get online, I cant see that game being very good in single player as its alot of co-op.

I saw a gameplay video of Left 4 Dead and it was in first person. The views might be interchangable, though.
