For the typical game of the year and platform specific awards, check out the gamespot best of 2009 event. However, we, the DBGU will be giving out some rather innovative titles. Find below the titles that we will give out:

 bestof2009

1. Best overall decision based game

Award moderator: DeadManRollin

Any game from any genre can be eligible for this category. However, there has to be some decision making element in the games nominated.

2. Best  downloadable game/content

Award moderator: Garfield360UK

Instead of giving a title to a particular game, we will go through the downloadable contents that came out this year. Some of them were bigger and better than some average games, and now we will select the best.

3. Best sandbox game

Award Moderator: Pai May

Sandbox games are actually open world games where the gamer is left with multiple choices and directions to approach the game. GTA is the most famous sandbox game, but there are other strong competitors, too.

4. Biggest Game Changing Decision

Award moderator: Garfield360UK

This is award for naming of your game where you feel decisions had the biggest impact. Think about the one memorable moment from 2009 (and 2009 release games only) where what you did had the bigest impact on your experience with said game.

5. Biggest gaming news

Award Moderator: kevinjia32

Self explanatory. The biggest news.

Watch out our forum for the threads, which will be opened by the moderators. We would like to finish with the nominations and selections by 15th January. The way forward is:

Phase 1: Thread opening

The moderators will open the threads.

Deadline 1st January.

Status: Complete

Phase 2: Nomination Seeking

Deadline: 14th January

You will nominate your game of choice and give some good logic behind your nomination.

Status: Running

Phase 3:  Winner Selection

Deadline: 15th January

Moderators will pick the best nomination from their own respective threads and announce the winners.

Phase 4: Award Giving

After phase 3 is done, the leader will announce the winners and the person who's nominations won the highest number of titles will get the "Decision Maker of the month" title.

Moderators can also nominate their own games and they have agreed to do a fare judgement within all the nominations.

Let's make this another successful event by contributing as much as we can.

Best Regards,

DBGU Leader

Gaming news, gaming news. I`m a bit unclear of the gaming news section. Could someone elaborate? Perhaps yourself?

Well, it can be any news, like "Announcement of Natal", "EA fires 200 employees", "Sands of time movie to be released", etc. etc.

I'd love to continue the debates on certain awards (i.e. the 5th one), but I guess

With this post, I am officially ending DBGU Awards 2009 contest. All related threads are now closed, and only this one remains open. We can discuss about the awards here, and we will soon move on to new things.

Best decision maker: Caml10, as 3 of his nominations ended up being award winners. Congratulations to you! I'd love to give you a special sig, but our union sig maker has been forced to retire due to inactivity. You will have to wait till I appoint someone new :)

Thank you all for your nominations and kind participation.

Special thanks to the award moderators who took time to go through the nominations.

I Pretty much Agree except for N. 3 and 5. I'm glad to finally see Dragon Age.: Origins win Game Of The Year SomeWhere, even though its in these "unofficial" channels.

Yeah, I know there were (and possibly still are) dispute over the biggest gaming news...but no one came up with better logics. Same goes for sandbox title. I thought Assassin's Creed 2 was going to win that one.
