I'm not saying that cheating is good but in the days of the Amiga there were several other reasons to cheat other than just for cheatings sake.
But can you remember any? Off the top of your head without looking the games up on the internet see what you can come up with.

Shadow of the Beast II: IIRC you paused the game and typed in TEN PINTS to activate "no collision detection".

New Zealand Story: On the title screen type in either "Fluffykiwis" or... er... a rather ruder version to activate infinite lives and level skip. At least I'm sure those were the effects. :)

And the alternative cheat?

hahaha :D

exellent cheat :P
i cant remember off hand any cheats. But i used to love the level codes u would get in Magazines (and at the end of Gamesmaster on TV, which u had to record and slow down to see! :)) to access later levels.

Used them all the time :)

The program with the speeded up cheat footage was Bad Influence, not Gamesmaster. Bad Influence was hosted by Violet Berlin and Andy Craine there was also some weird guy in a shed called nam rood.

Bad influenceofficial site

An intresting fact,

At the end of the programme, viewers were encouraged to record the 'datablast,' a number of pages of game articles and information that were flashed rapidly onto the screen during the credits, using a Commodore Amiga.

James Pond II Robocod had some in game cheats where you had to pick up five items consecutively in a special order.

Cake
Hammer
Earth
Apple
Tap (well it was from the UK :) )

Penguin
Oil can
Wine glass
Earth
Racket (as in tennis)

Lips
Ice Cream
Violin

Good old James pond

Its coupled with Pushover as "games with odd product placement".
Pond had penguin bars and penguins in the intro, and Pushover had yer man from Quavers in it.

And we think Sam Fisher chewing an Airwave is bad :D

Off topic here but the PS2 release of Robocod doesn't have the Penguin chocolate bar tie-in anymore. In fact you don't have to rescue any penguins at all now. They've been replaced with elves with bombs attached to them. A shame that really.
