Not too long ago people here where wondering if next gen consoles would be able to catch-up to PC, some even thought the the ps5 leak meant that PC’s would be no match/ irrelevant.

Speculation is gone so now it’s time for them to switch the argument back to console price point....Well you get what you pay for I guess.

On PC you do not get what you pay for......

Pffft, you Pee salty seas, I mean really. Lets remember unlike all Mighty X1X MonsterBoxes, all PC's are far from being equal as mah Pee salty sea can't even run Tetris in 1080P 30 fps so ya know, just sayin. Stop using the generic PC and start listing your personal computer specs rather than just saying PC's... Mmmkk. :P

Let me guess, the consolites are DC'ing with either or combination of:

1. Price Point

2. Throwing in percentages of people that will guy those GPUs

3. Uninformed/Butthurt cows saying UC/HZD/GoW/TLOU looks better

A bunch of useless features to be honest. You won't even notice any of that when actually playing the game and to even see the benefits of ray tracing, you need to look at side by side comparisons.

Agreed, I was kinda looking forward to cards with more power. Instead with basically get the 10 series again with raytracing cores :(

Must be hard for Hermits having raw hardware performance that's a generational leap over consoles and not having the generational leap in graphics to show for it.

It's kinda like when CPUs stopped increasing clock speeds and instead started focusing on no. of cores. The same will happen to GPUs due to the coming age of VR, AR and DL.

Thank you for posting Control cause I did miss that trailer. I was impress the first time I saw Control and now, Remedy is supporting Ray Tracing is a great bonus feature. Totally looking forward to playing Control and this is coming from a guy who likes Quantum Break.

Oh I'm fully looking forward to the coming improvements in DL and raytracing.

It's just that right now, I'd rather have more raw power to game on very high resolutions at very high framerates.

Same here. I usually skips a GPu generation when upgrading and this was to be my next upgrade after 970 however now I'm holding off and will wait until 2020 for 7nm GPUs and actual games to support such functionality.

Of course not, most games can be played on cheaper rigs. I actually though the new Nvidia line would be expensive as ****, but the prices seem to be same as GTX 1080 for example.

When you can have HZD or GOW level graphics for the third of the gpu price, why even bother!!!

I get what i pay for for sure, and leave the pixelcount to those who live by the pixelcount ^^

That coming for an old pc gamer who knows a dime is a dime and best graphics never means better games!!!

of course they do.

Its not a requirement to sell as many games as possible, you can appeal to Niche markets. The analogy works just fine

Where's the tessellation in consoles remaster?

The lighting was still not fully dynamic. It has missing lights.

Shadows were missing in Redux, specifically remember the lighting and shadows were cast by muzzle flash in the original.

Volumetric lighting was cut down in Redux.

If I remember correctly motion blur was also of lower quality on consoles though I can be mistaken.

Developer interview

Digital Foundry: Surely the easier path would have been to lock at 1080p30 and concentrate on integrating as many high-end rendering features as possible. Why target 60fps over 30fps?

Oles Shishkovstov: Because we can! Actually for the next unannounced project, the designers want more and more of everything (as usual) and quite possibly we will target 30fps.

Look, we shipped a rock-solid 60fps game with the quality right in the middle between the high and very high preset of the PC version.

Crucially for YOUR GTX970 to match the solid 60fps of a BASE.....yes a BASE PS4 you would have to run lower quality settings and have a worse looking game then a console with a potato CPU and a 6.5 year old GPU.

:/ I'm honestly not that impressed with RTX.

Here's hoping the cards themselves actually have big performance boosts over the 10 series when benchmarks arrive.

So, you're back to trolling again since you've exhausted all your arguments?

Again, nope I don't have to lower my settings or get to PS4 settings anywhere to match 60FPS since PS4 didn't have SSAA at all. PC does and disabling SSAA will still gives the same AA as PS4 uses and I can run my game at 80-100 FPS.

Lastly, PS4 was still missing tessellation, don't have a fully dynamic lighting/shadowing engine which was the original argument. Unless you can prove that I'm wrong about the following points this debate is done for.

Crucially for YOUR GTX970 to match the solid 60fps of a BASE.....yes a BASE PS4 you would have to run lower quality settings and have a worse looking game then a console with a potato CPU and a 6.5 year old GPU.

Lmao...... clueless as ever...

So, back to trolling, okay, bye!

Developer interview

Digital Foundry: Surely the easier path would have been to lock at 1080p30 and concentrate on integrating as many high-end rendering features as possible. Why target 60fps over 30fps?

And now you run off........ get a better GPU

PC graphics? Consoles are pretty much PC's as well. The only difference is what GPU and other parts the system has. Until GPUs come way down in price and are easy to attach to your PC, I don't see most people abandoning consoles.

I play video games for their gameplay, though. I don't put a game on TV to watch graphics. I prefer sitting on a couch as well, with a controller and playing on a big screen TV.

REALLY!? You're using THAT as an excuse? How hard is it to plug a GPU into a PCIe slot and put 2 screws into your case? Come on...

I wont bother arguing the rest. Price is a real concern for a lot of people and the rest is personal preference. But to say installing a GPU is too hard or complicated? It can physically only go in one way... it's idiot proof.

No game is ever going to use Nividia's proprietary Ray Tracing unless it's implemented as an alternative rendering API to DX or Vulkan. Even in that case I would bet it would be sponsored by Nvidia.

Put it this way. Until there is a graphics rendering API that's not specifically tied to a brand of graphic cards, raytracing specific hardware that can be accessed by said API is Nvidia, AMD, and Intel GPUs (cpus now, but Intel is making a GPU), and the consoles have these GPUs, we will NOT see a major game with raytracing options. We may see very small indie titles sponsored by Nvidia or done by little teams purely as a proof-of-concept, but raytracing isn't realistic for at least 20 years.

Anybody arguing anything about raytracing needs to come back to reality. PCs aren't going to be using this tech for a decade at the minimum and we won't see any developer wasting time on their multiplatform game with a renderer 2/3rds of the playerbase can't even use (and probably even less within the remaining PC gamer pool).

It's super cool tech, but that's about it. It's not practical in the slightest.

true. what caught my eye however is what I put in bold.

gameplay and games is EXACTLY the reason I play PC instead of console. The games are simply better

The one who ran away was you by saying clueless, LMAO. You don't have anything to back up your claims apart from the dev saying vaguely PS4 runs between high and very high, that you're trying to cling to very hard since you can't disprove any features I highlighted as missing in the PS4 remaster compared to 2010's Metro.

Your desperate attempt to somehow equate PS4's performance with PC's 970 was also shot down since the benchmark was using SSAA, in essence at least at double the resolution of PS4.

Unless you have anything to counter my points, Bye.

And you're still running off........ still waiting for you to prove they striped it back......and you try and put the onus on me and move the goal posts because I call you out on your bull shit....... PLEASE.....PLEASE provide me with some form of proof of your claims and not what YOU THINK is missing......

Hahahahaha...

A GTX970 was a decent GPU...over 3 years ago.........Hahaha....
