Xbox Live in 2002 is more advanced than Nintendo's Network in 2018

Think about this for a second.

In 2002 we could...

  • Send voice mail
  • Send text mail
  • Add friends via gamertags (none of that friend code nonsense)
  • Join session in progress
  • In game voice chat with up to 16 players.

This was 16 years ago, and Nintendo still hasn't caught up to it and the whole "its free" argument doesn't work anymore.

Nintendo has to be one of the dumbest and most incompetent companies within any industry, I wish Sega had survived and Nintendo failed.

Nintendo never ceases to amaze me
Nintendo never ceases to amaze me

Yeah... definitely not one of Nintendo's strong points.

And only they could get away with it tbh.

Mario's a plummer not a programmer. It takes time to retrain him to sort this kind of stuff out.

You'd think with all that crossplay hype, MS could step in and show them how to do a decent service.

Well, maybe they'll learn. I have no interest in their BC subscription thing and they have no VC, and even if they did I would not participate given how they'be treated rights retention on Wii, Wii U, 3DS. Maybe if other people get sick of their shit then they'll adjust their strategy.

People are already jumping to throw 20 bucks at them. Just like Xbox Live and PSN+ I suspect this will be a great success.

It's laughable. Can't even send text messages to friends.

Rektendo

And judging from how many classic "Sega" hits are on Xbox you might say, the spirit of Sega lives through Xbox

But I won't push it.

It's pretty bad and embarrassing now that it's a paid service.
When it was free it was sort of fine, because at least playing online works well. But now that we have to pay we need some basic functionalities, like actually being able to send messages to friends.

Yeah.... Nintendo is not good at...

Well anything but game development. It's their one redeeming quality really.

  • They treat their fans like garbage (kill fan projects, aggressively monetize people's YouTube videos)
  • Their hardware design is....eh
  • They're bad at manufacturing the things they do design
  • Amiibos are stupid
  • Attack people and organizations for playing games that they don't provide any access to.
  • As you said, their network capabilities are a joke

...good games though....

2018 Nintendo Switch has more sales then 2002 Xbox, so there's that.

@pyro1245: Bad at manufacturing in what way? Nintendo products are sturdy and durable as hell. Sony and MS don't even compare.

Nintendo just pissed off a fan. All I wanted was virtual console. But no, they want to put the games behind a paywall.

They'll get away with it as well. The Nintendo fan-base isn't exactly free-thinking.
