Not ergonomically or even technically but this thing breaks off so easily. I've went through about 7 controllers in 10 years. Only 2 survived from 2005 to this day and most were lucky to last over 3 years. That wired controller I bought in 2005 still works flawlesly but the wireless ones all have different issues.

One has a joystick that moves on its own.

Another one has a dead rumble.

The Halo Reach version has a screwed up D-pad.

A red variant I bought recently on newegg has an issue with the deadzone of the right thumbstick.

I've owned a PS3 since 2011 and all three controllers still work perfectly. Hell my old GC from 2001 that I played till 2012 has two controllers and they both work marvelously. Even my N64 from 1997 has that Atomic Purple controller that still works to this day except the joystick is a bit rough.

Anyone has similar issues with the Xbox 360 controller?

I will say I do have one wireless 360 controller that with the slightest of pressure on the left analog, it starts to move a character. All 360 controllers apparently have loose analogs, my wired is like this as well but not so much that it causes issues like my wireless.

As for the Dualshock 3, I have had issues with every one (or almost) i've ever owned. The shells are much weaker than 360's, so they squeak, and i've had issues with shoulder buttons and even the analog sticks (not the tops but the sticks) wear down. They are pretty cheaply made.

Quality control is still an issue with the dualshock 4, though I can't say that about the Xbone controller as I haven't used it enough.

Nope. Mine were all fairly solid. I still have a white one around somewhere, and it works like a charm.

The 360 controller had always been regarded as the best around. Light years ahead of the DS3.

That throne was recently taken from the 360 by the Ones controller. That reign won't last long once the Elite arrives.

One of the wireless controllers I had since launch broke, the trigger snapped off, but other than that not really. I've gone through many controllers with every console I've had since the SNES. Except the game cube and the Wii, but that's because I hardly gamed on them compared to the others.

All my dualshock controllers broke.

I hear the dead zone of the 360 controller was worse than the DS3, the the Bone controller is worse still which would really piss me off.

The only issue I had with the DS3 was the original one (not the Sixaxis I got with the PS3), the shoulder buttons kept getting stuck, they changed the design on the later models, and was harder than it needed it be to take apart and put back together (springs and shit flying out). The later model was fine.

My only problem with the PS3 controller as a whole was the lack of bluetooth pairing to PC, you ended up having to use a custom driver on PC to get it working which was never 100% stable. DS4 has fixed all though though, pairing to PC with default drivers, better analog sticks, increased quality, only the battery life lets it down in comparison but it's not a deal breaker.

From what I hear people prefer the 360 controller to the One, so wouldn;t that make the Xbox One controller the worst?

My controllers have lasted just fine. One bumper is kinda iffy, but just because I dropped the controller, still works though.

Its common knowledge that the 360 pads are made of confetti. they break in a slight breeze so keep out of reach of children and away from direct sunlight.

Or just buy a decent third part controller for your xbox. The customized/tuned version of the 360 pad are a step up, still a long way off the quality seen in a DS3 or even your average keyboard/mouse

Sounds like you had a string of bad luck.

The vast majority consider the 360 gamepad, despite the atrocious d-pad, to be one of the best in the history of gaming.

And aside from the shoulder buttons and the d-pad, I agree with them. I've dropped both of mine numerous times in the 6-7 years I played the thing regularly and they still both function perfectly.

Plus, it was a FAR better controller than the 1990's design that Sony kept recycling despite it's ergonomic problems for those of us not with hands like children.

I never had a problem with mine. Then again I can game with any controller and I take care of them. Honestly I'd vote N64 controller if I had to pick one.

Had mine all gen, worked fine. Loved the controller. This gen lost 1 of DS4's to a static electricity shock the 3rd time I used it (well some of the buttons don't work) and the rubber on the thumbsticks of my other one is slowly coming off. Thanks Sony.

I would say it is one of the better one, only the D-pad that is bad on it. Love the controller for use with PC

Only nitpicks for me.

The charger cable won't charge any more and the d-pad has a vaig impute in some games.

My dog made a chew toy from one , but it works fine , better then the second one.

You either have really bad luck or you are too rough on your controllers, I have 6, 2 of which are in constant use, one is the original that came with the console, the other one was purchased the same day 7 years ago and both work perfectly right.

Nope. Most unreliable console, probably, but I have my original controller from my launch 360 that works like a charm. Meanwhile, my red PS3 left stick no longer clicks in and one of my black ps3 controllers has a right stick that is dead. So I'd say the DS3 is the most unreliable from my experiences. Other people may have never had a problem with the DS3 though.

DS2 worst controller ever?! I have 2 and both are broken, but my single DS1 is fine! My 2 super nintendo controllers are fine, my 4 GameCube controllers are fine, and my 3 360 controllers are fine! Only the DS2 controllers are broken!!

I can make anecdotal observations as well.

TC must throw them pretty hard, because I've dropped 360 controllers onto tile without problem. And there were a couple times playing N+ and Super Meat Boy that they were tossed to the carpeted floor in a slight anger-filled fit and came out unscathed.

As a PC gamer, having used many controllers over the years, the last one being a 360 pad, I can't understand why lemmings hyped it as the best gaming pad ever made.

Anyways, regarding build I'm still with my original one from like five years ago. I think it depends on the person using it and of the specific product you receive. There will always be faulty products.

Never a single solitary problem... I'll give Microsoft a heaping pile of poop all day on rod, but never once had an issue with the 360 controller... Its a competent d pad away from perfection.

I do however think gamers were far too lenient on Sony's dualshock 3 which was a last minute scramble move... At least it wasn't motion controls though.
