With 1080p and 60FPS looking to be the standard next gen, is a PC needed?

Almost all the new games were aiming for 1080p and 60FPS, despite so many being open world and this coupled the general multiplatform nature of nextgen seems to make high end PCs a much less attractive option vs a console. With one of the major advantages of high end PC gaming gone do you think high end PC gaming is going to be even less relevant?

The PC can go above that. Get an expensive monitor and you'll enjoy 1440p or 1600p at 120fps or 144fps.

Even at 1080p with 60fps, the PC is still better. Textures, draw distance, anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, tessellation and more are going to be better on PC.

Hell, even at 720p natively, consoles still look blurry compared with what I was experiencing at 720p on my PC with my old HDTV. PC looks much sharper and clearer. I bet it's going to be the same with PS4 and Xbox One - still blurry looking games at 1080p.

I want 120FPS!

I do 1440p and 120FPS on my PC so I would think so. Heck many console games won't do max settings even.

Why wouldn't it be needed?

It's still the primary platforms for indie titles, still has the highest profit margins of all platforms, still has the most open development platform, and is still the most powerful. 

When it comes to crunch time and PC games start really pushing what we see now while consoles hit their bottlenecks, I doubt the 1080p at 60fps will stick.

1080p ? LOL. It´s the past. Now it´s all about 1600p.

Also, I really don't think 60fps is gonna be standard for next-gen consoles.

I thought you'd give me some technical insight about it or something. Yeah it's an opinion, but there isn't much of a difference between them and 1080p offerings.

Simple numbers are enough technical details to get into proving that 1440p is superior to 1080p for sheer clarity alone. But if you can't see it then it's your opinion and we can't exactly change that by talking about it

Flight sim is my preferred genre. So....... Yeah. Of course a PC is still needed. My next preferred genre is FPS. I prefer to play that genre with mouse and keyboard. Until console developers add native mouse and keyboard support, I'll still play most of the genre on the PC.

X1 is weak as sh1t. So I'd have PS4/PC if I wanted a console along w PC

maybe if the only reason to play pc games is for better graphics but that's not the case.
