CD Projekt has released a clutch of brand new PlayStation 4 screenshots for Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, the third iteration in the fantasy-based, action role-playing game series.

The Polish developer is using the power of the new REDengine 3 game engine, which has been designed for next-gen consoles and is said to produce better quality visuals than previous instalments of the engine used in the last two games. The new engine will also be used to power its upcoming sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077.

Several new open-world gameplay details have been revealed by Marek Ziemak for the upcoming multiplatform video game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is heading to the PS4 and Xbox 720. In an interview with Softpedia that was published on April 12, CD Projekt Reds gameplay producer revealed that players will be able to go anywhere they want at the beginning of the latest entry from The Witcher series. Furthermore, they will have more room to explore as the world in the sequel is 35 times bigger than the one in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. You can check out some screens from the sequel in the slideshow at the top of this article.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently in development at CD Projekt Red for the PS4 and Xbox 720 next-generation systems in addition to the PC platform. The open-world action role-playing game will be released for North American sometime in 2014. It currently does not have a publisher. The aforementioned PS4 and Xbox 720 are expected to launch in the same region in late 2013.

These are not PS4 shots in the Witcher 3 engine, these are mock ups created by The witcher 3 Dev team in the Witcher 2 engine to show how it would look, these are about a month old

The shots aren't done. The final renderer hasn't had a pass over the game yet. CDPR said it will look noticeably better by launch. All you're seeing in these shots is rough work 

And resolution makes a bigger difference than you'd think. Look at Dark Souls, all that beautiful texture work on the armor and weapons that was smothered and blurred out from the console resolution, 1080p+ made it pop

Exactly why I'm adamantly confident CDPR will make this alpha code look substantially better by 2014. Nitpicking at alpha codes is just a nonsensical thing to do man.

Same case with Naughty Dog's game, everybody goes out of their way to point out flaws and texture fidelity and overlook the fact that Uncharted 3 was aceness. (Despite its minimal flaws, it was no UC2, but certainly not bad)

And I thought it looked outrageously good on consoles.

Over the last few months, I'm seeing history repeat itsef again with The Last Of Us. A game that is dead set to take home various GOTY awards and score solidly high on meta ---> Gets shaded because of early flaws on the alpha code. (notice a trend with PS3 exclusives? oh ma gawd :shock:)

As for Dark Souls, you could have picked a better game to express this matter clearly. As Dark Souls is a game that comptely renders the "need" of graphics useless.

I never once thought about how bad the resolution or graphics were on the PS3 version, since the core gameplay mechanics more than made up for it. So honestly, its all subjective sean.

Looks good... This is probably a day one buy for me.

So are these bullshots or what? They look too crisp and I can hardly see any jaggies (might be because of the size of the shots). But they don't look ultra sharp and omg inducing detail like PC shots.

No they don't, the shots in the link are 920x517. And you can't tell anything about graphical fidelity at that size

Hate to say it, but there's some glaring problems, those **** lens flare's.  Disappointed CDPR, disappointed.  They better take that crap out as well as those stupid lighting effects.

Lens flare's, overblown lighting, and eye adpations, basically all post process is a plauge and needs to get out of games.  and that got damn color grading.  UGH.

It looks decent. I'll remain neutral regarding this game until I see more of it. Not to discredit what CDPR has done in the past, but this is something of a scope that they have yet to try and tackle.

The gallery is full of PC shots that came out a while ago, which I wonder if these are actually PS4 shots or just scaled to PS4 specs

I have a bad feeling that Witcher 3 may undergo a drastic consolization and hope that doesn't change the game's soul like it did Dragon Age 2.

All I know is that I want a game called GRAPHICS. Where the only point of the game is to have amazing visuals that can be debated in gameplay online with live chat and threads similar to this.
