Yeah, no. It's been selling really well, for sure, but when the Neo comes out people are going to slow down their purchases of the PS4. And then in 3 more years when the Neo Neo comes out, people are going to have all but forgotten bout the PS4. There is no way it is on pace to break the PS2 record if you extrapolate over those events.

Ps2 is the best selling and nothing will ever touch it besides handhelds.

It could get close, since Sony has a history of supporting their consoles well into a new generation. But surpassing 155 million sales is no easy feat. Even though the gaming industry has grown since the PS2 days.

I'll like to give this prediction a few more years to see if PS4 sales start to slow down on a consistent basis. As right now, sales are being stagnated by a impending price cut. The release of a slim model, and the Neo.

@xantufrog: The PS4 NEO sales will count toward PS4 overall sales. They are in the same family of systems. Both systems will play the exact same PS4 software. If they sell 68 million PS4s and 43 million PS4 Neos, 68 + 43 = 111 million sold. The NEO is an upgrade not a new system.

PS2 DVD drive was also the cheapest DVD player of it's time, it's a gifted gimmick and the PS3 Blu-Ray was also cheapest Blu-Ray player as well.

Thats a big NO and thats because even if it had a chance to be , providing an upgraded version of a console shouldnt count as the original version when it comes to sales. Period

With that being said and NEO few months away which will be the preferable and leading version for future PS4 owners , any chances of PS4 surpassing PS2 is below zero.

I'm not in the "Neo isn't a new system" camp so I don't agree. It's just a semantic game you guys are playing on here - call it an upgrade if that makes your argument stronger, or a new system if it makes your argument stronger. The PS2 had a PS1 in it. The original PS3 had a PS2 in it. It's new hardware that will eventually replace the PS4 entirely when it becomes too laborious to optimize games for the outdated PS4

Neo counts 100% toward PS4 sales. Sony did make a slight mistake not incorporating The Cell 2 processor into the PS4; had they done so there would be no need for an upgraded Neo, but I'm still very happy and proud of Sony to continue pushing the gaming envelope. Hell, based on the specs, Neo could challenge the latest PC gaming rigs ($3,000 easily) and start converting those gamers, which could push PS4 sales north of 200 million. Only time will tell.

It has 10MB of ram and a 4 core 800mhz CPU vs the old version which has 6MB of ram and a 266mhz dual core. The difference is big enough to pull 20FPS more on the new 3DS over the old version.

That means that the X1S is a new system with its new specs.

No the Neo equivalent of a PC is $10,000+ making the Neo faster than any PC every created. With specs like that the PS4 + Neo would shatter the billion console mark. Sony is the god of gaming.

Xbox One S is a slim version of the console. Neo and Scorpio are upgrades. How much you want to bet that developers will stop making games for the OG PS4 after a year or two after the Neo's release? Once people start to realize just how much they want all that upgraded tech?

Not a chance Sony would allow that to happen. They put customers 1st, and the focus of their company is to expand their brand while remaining 100% supportive of ALL their systems. Sony knows customers love options, so they wanted to offer a premium version of the PS4 for those interested in VR.
