The simple fact that it succeds the Gamecube.Whether a console is next-gen or not isn't open to debate.

And the PlayStation 3 can do 120 FPS and the Xbox 360 has a failure rate of 3%. Keep believing that PR spin, buddy!

Can we get off this? It is a Current Gen system, along with the PS3 and 360.

i have a question when people talk about next gen consoles i hope they dont talk about the wii because compared to a ps3 or xbox 360 its a ps2 or xbox with motion sensor remotes and still worst then a ps2.

what you say there, is basically saying your son is not the next generation of your family because he has a dissability... Next generation has nothing to do with technology, but to do with when it comes out. and its CURRENT GEN now. Next gen is what comes next.

If the Wii is not a "next-gen" console, so do the Xbox 360 and PS3. The term "next-gen" refers to the 8th-generation of video game systems which is in the future. It does not refer to the present generation. The Wii is a "current-gen" (7th-generation) as do the Xbox 360, and the PS3.

Never before I have seen so many people misusing a term and using it the wrong way!
