Just because Nintendo neglected one genre while offering about three good platformers doesn't mean anything when the PS2 and gradually the PS3 also have great platformers while still being better rounded overall. I noticed even though I was talking about the Playstation One you avoided it when talking about platformers. Hmnn I wonder why. *Cough* Crash, Spyro*Cough* Good N64 platformers 1.Mario 64 2.Banjo Kazooie and Tooie (now on the 360) 3.Rayman I guess but its also on the PS2 4.... No not really. So the entire platforming section is covered by Super Mario 64? Sometimes you can have quality and quantity.which both the Playstation and PS2 had

Yeah except those games suck.

A game like Crash Bandicoot Warped or Spyro is still fun today while Yoshi's Story was bad then and is bad now.

Super Smash Brothers sucks? ha!

Well I didn't see it because SBB is easy to miss. No that game is good but the other two are horrible by N64 standards and todays standards

He most likely meant 2D platformers not 3D fighting games with 2D movement.

Well for one it recieved mixed reviews then and honestly why would anyone outside of the nostalgia factor want to go back to it? Super Mario 64 is a classic for a reason its still fun to go back and play. Micheif Makers? Not so much. Same with Yoshi's Story which was always awful.

As a spiritual and literal successor to Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, the game was seen as being comparatively smaller in size and scope. Critics noted many disadvantages with the level design: there were only 24 levels in this game (as compared to the 50+ levels in Yoshi's Island), each of them could be completed in minutes, and only six of them needed to be completed to clear story mode. The critics also disliked many other things about the game such as the graphical details, the music, and the absence of vehicle morphing. Joe Fielder of GameSpot noted that Yoshi's Story "was obviously designed so that younger players could play through quickly and feel some sense of accomplishment" and called it "good for a rental at best."[16] GameSpot awarded the game a "5.3" for "Mediocre" while Allgame and Game's Domain both awarded Yoshi's Story a "5.0" out of 10. But clayfighter?! I owned that game too... 3.1 here at gamespot. such a terrible game.
