Why the hate on MGS4?

whenevr i mention something here in system wars about MGS4 there is always a giant group of people telling me it was crap and that there was no gameplay.....um what? It has one of the best gameplay in my opinion and great graphics, next to KZ2 its problably the best there is. You haters can keep on hating on a game you found complex to understand, MGS4 was ment for those who played the other games the best, while you did really NEED to play teh others to understand teh basics of the story, it was explained alot, honestly, i tihnk MGS4 is the GREATEST GAME EVER MADE!! There we go, come on fanboys, lemmings, gimme ur best shot.

Alot of 360 fanboys are just angry that Hideo Kojima made Metal Gear Solid 4 a ps3 exclusive. Just ignore them, they are jealous that the 360 didnt get that game.

Halo 3 is the exact opposite of what MGS4 is in.

I dont see that the new Metal Gear having Raiden as the protagonist will even come close to the Metal Gears with Solid and Naked Snake. Raiden isn't my favorite character but I also don't hate him, just I dont think he would be good as a protagonist.

I dont see that the new Metal Gear having Raiden as the protagonist will even come close to the Metal Gears with Solid and Naked Snake. Raiden isn't my favorite character but I also don't hate him, just I dont think he would be good as a protagonist.

Its going to be a hack and slash game playing as raiden, unlike the original MGS way, stealth!! and thats why its going to bad. (well maybe not thta bad but its not going to be that good)

funny how every fanboy was talking bad about it when it first came out and saying it sucked yet when there was all that talk about it coming to 360 everyone who had a 360 just kept getting all crazy about i and were shoving it in PS3 owners faces...then it turns out it isnt coming out but rising is so than for a whole 24 hours they shoved that n our faces than konamis press coference states that ts also on the PS3 now all the sudden its back to MGS4 was crap and no one cares about it....at least they still have gears and mass effect but now everyone is talking about the next ne coming out for PS3...

This is why every hated game, gets hate. Fanboys of a specific game start overhyping the game to unbelievable levels, and some people in response start to hate on it to piss the fanboys.

Graphics are way overhyped. I thought my PS3 was broken when I first saw the fricken game on my TV.

All I got to say is MGS4 is the best game Ive ever played.

Well I thought it was a good game but I just didn't think it was as good as MGS3.

although tbh Im not a huge fan of MGS4 myself but I dont hate on the game the only complaint i had about it was how ridiculously long the cut scenes were in it almost half of them couldve retained just as epic of a feel if they had been shortened down by at least 10 minutes.

It needs a story at halo 1's level, then it gets a 10 from me 9.5 for now, from me as well.

The reason I don't really want MGS4 is because the story consumes the gameplay. Sure, Good story is good but less gameplay than story is bad. I watched someone play the game (on youtube). I found myself skipping alot of the video and sometimes 3 or 4 videos in a row. I'm not really interest in most stories in games (because most of the best games I've played have a really bad story) and am even more turned off by the fact that the story is more important than the game. Too each is own and this defiantly isn't my cup o' tea. MGS3 looks like the only MGS I would love. I love survival games, movies shows so that looks good.

I will say though that halo 3 has MUCH more replayability, so I dunno now, both are great.

For online play? MGS4 has also online play and I find more fun playing the game again for getting those awards. There are some crazy bullets that Debrin sells that do some funny effects to the ones you shoot with them. Also there some unlockable stuff if you play again.

i won't hate on it but it is still sitting on a shelf waiting to get finished because i found the game too uninteresting to carry on after a few hours

i know i'm in the minority here and that's fine i'm more than happy to say that i'm the weird one but

there is just something about the bald smoking monkey and the poop jokes that i found so lame that i just decided to not carry on since i had things to play that were more interesting to me

i think i like my humor a little more subtle and they want to smash you over the head with obvious stuff and in-jokes

anyway the game is full of quality that's easy to see but the convoluted J-writing/storytelling style just seems so old fashioned and boring that i decided to just plug away at it when i find myself in a game drought and that has not happened yet
