Why did the wii have a sensor bar?  Why dint nintendo just connect it to the TV and put the pointer on the tv like the Arcade game "TIME CRISIS".

The sensor bar is just to ensure that everything works properly. I don't see a problem with it.

Because the Wii Remote isn't a light gun?  Its active all the time, so having the TV flash or whatever every xth of a second will either give people siezures or just be annoying.

The Wiimote isn't a Light-gun, the sensor bar is there to send an Ir signal to the Wiimote so it can triangulate its position

Lightguns couldn't check distance, Wiimote+sensor bars can.

Most light guns require glass to send the signal to the gun. Because light guns work the exact opposite. You're not beaming a signal to the screen, the signal is actually coming to the gun itself.

because time crisis only senses movement on the x and y axis. the sensor lets it have depth
