Why did Naughty Dog stop making memorable characters?

The last one was Jak and Daxter. TLOU and Uncharted are filled with copycat movie characters. Literally no originality and indistinguishable from just about any generic human character in video games.

The real question is, why are you still downplaying the success of TLOU and Uncharted in 2019?

Sony needed those blockbuster AAA experiences.

Because they got sick of being called Mario clones.

I remember every one of their characters very well and so does the rest of the industry.

I thought Nathan Drake is a memorable character.

I love the old cartoony ND characters, but the characters in the more realistic games are most definitely memorable. ND has had great writers and designers over the years that make them so.

I think it's because a lot of the peoiple in early naugty dog became part of Crystal Dynamics personally....

I have Crash Bandicoot and Soul Reaver still lying around and they could go with anything but it's never clear what they prefer.

The real reason is that most people like boring bland real life characters. I do not get it either. It is what it is.
