Poll Who is getting Octopath Traveler? (poll) (58 votes)
Game looks amazing. It looks to be the spiritual successor to Bravely Default. I ordered myself the Travelers edition, anybody else?

Liked the demo! Just not a huge fan of the genre- but do prefer turn based much more to action.
The art was outstanding though. The voice acting was dumb, hoping for the option to turn that off.
I will likely wait for a cheap entry- problem is I'm satisfied with Stardew Valley, Rocket League, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe right now. And later this year I'll choose Donkey Kong, Captain Toad, Smash, and Pokemon over Octopath.
This is my most anticipated Switch game of the year. I love the art style. I typically don't like JRPGs, but this game brings me back to the 90s when JRPGs weren't hot garbage designed to sexually arouse weebs.
Yeah this is going to be great. And the Travelers Edition looks like a rare case of an actually interesting looking CE. So I miiiight even go for that. But I'm already buying a new bike this week.... which is costing me almost all my savings so. We'll see.
I had the game pre-ordered after the demo and have canceled it ... to pre-order the collectors edition ;D This is probably going to be one of the best JRPGs this gen.

*high five*. From amazon or gamestop?
Here in Switzerland Amazon isn't really a thing and Gamespot is tiny. Preordered it from one of the two biggest player in my country

Gotcha, did it sell out already?
Me for sure....
Exactly what the switch needs, a slow paced turn based rpg. Believe it or not turn based is totally lacking from the Switch. Good for watching some tube while gaming.
Too many fast paced action games on the system... not favorable for the portable option.
Turn based would not be missing if they gave me my VC games back tho!!

Nope. Here CEs rarely sell out. You can usually even get them on launch.

Well, we do have Disgaea 5 which alone offers 100s of turn based fun. Then there's Mario and Rabbids, Worms, Steamworld: Heist, Mercenaries, Tiny Metal and some others. Come to think about it, we actually have a lot of good turn based games for a system that's one year old.
Demo was awesome... Love the return to Snes style jrpgs... Will most likely get it soon after launch. I tend to not buy a ton of games at launch anymore as it doesn't prove to work out well for the gamer.
I'm doing the same now. I usually wait awhile if it's not a huge franchise I like. I tend to get Mario, Zelda, Fire Emblem on launch days and anything Bravely default related.
@n64dd: mass effect andromeda was the nail in the coffin for me. Once that pile of crap released I was like, never again... Admittedly however I did buy odyssey day 1 and Bayonetta and 2 preloaded but that was because I knew Bayonetta already had a successful pedigree... And mario... Well? It's Mario. And it was pretty killer

Agreed. Some games are too risky though.
I've played octopath, and it felt just like bravely default did to me, and that made me a happy camper.
@n64dd: there's a place for all types of games... Theres an audience too... Final Fantasy 4 is my all time favorite jrpg... This reminded me so much of that... Now, beyond the demo....??
I'd like the story to hold up...
I'd like for systems to have depth and also still be approachable... Is that asking too much? Haha.
I'd like for it to feel like an adventure, not filler... Not boring overused tropes... Gameplay focused should be number 1 tho.

Yeah i'm interested to see how different each character is, or how the drastic the story changes.
Day one for me, really liked the demo. Just the standard edition though, the Traveler's Edition looks cool but I have no real need for that stuff.
