Which series has better music: The Legend of Zelda or Final Fantasy?

Both game series are known for their incredible music and masterfully composed tracks, some of which are now among the most well recognized pieces of melody int he world. Which series do you think has better music? The Legend of Zelda, or Final Fantasy?

I like hearing FF music alot more then Zelda so Final Fantasy.

Me being a huge fan of both serie its a very hard choice to make haha.

A Link To The Past for me is the best soundtrack of any Zelda with OoT and Windwaker following closely but then i've so many memories with FF songs ranging from FFIV to FFX (not a big fan of recent FF soundtrack wise)

So i'll have to choose Final Fantasy.

Ignoring FF13 I believe Final Fantasy does but Legend of Zelda is not far behind

Zelda overall, but FF has some shining songs/games. That said, I do know Zelda's better than FF's.

No one beats Nobuo Uematsu. Too bad he doesn't do it for every game.

Final Fantasy though music been only decent since X

Final Fantasy music is the cream of the crop imho.

I love the music in Zelda but Final Fantasy beats it by far.

I respect Koji Kondo and all the work he's done for the series, but Nobuo Uematsu, as well as the other composers that have worked on the series, have made far more memorable OSTs. Both have great tunes, but I'd pick FF over most any other game franchise for music.

FF has way better soundtrack, I dont even see a comparation, sure zelda has some memorable tunes, but come on, they are all like 20 seconds long as much. be honest here, do you actually remember the final boss battle theme of ocarina of time? 'cause I know I dontlightleggy

Nope. But I do remember the final tune from A Link to the Past. :P It was leagues ahead of the lousy tune from OoT.

I'd say Zelda...a lot more memorable music...the only thing I can remember from FF is the intro music from FF6 when the 3 magi armors are walking towards the village.....but don't get me wrong the music in FF is still AMAZING I just can't remember any tracks...

Final Fantasy, although the series have two very different types of soundtracks. I don't think it's fair to compare the two.

JRPGs are convoluted messes and Final Fantasy is the personification of a bad JRPG. The series went downhill after VII and VI was the last good FF. Essentially, you're comparing XIV to Four Swords, XIII to Twilight Princess, VII to OoT, and X to Windwaker. It's obvious which series is better and has done more for gaming. Final Fantasy gets worse and more predictable with every entry while Zelda continues to marvel and innovate.princeofshapeir

I prefer Zelda's music, but to be fair I'm also a lot more familiar with Zelda music.

Ganon's theme was amazing :)

final fantasy... zelda is good, but you're competing with one of the most consistent series in terms of music qualtiy (except for FF12). FFX as a whole is the best gaming soundtrack period.

I love LOZ music but Square enix knows how to do music FF has some of the best music ever though I i think KH has the best music ever

FF music easily. And this is coming from a guy that still loves the Zelda series and finds FF to be garbage.

And even then, XIII isn't exactly a high point for music in the series.

i look at it this way. Which series has more memorable songs? Zelda does. Most ppl remember the zelda tunes & can easly hummm them out. While FF does have great music it doesn't have many memorable songs other than the victory theme, FF7 battle theme,FF13 sunleth waterscape, & the chocobo theme. Also Zelda's music matches teh enviornment MUCH better. FF sounds nice but doesn't fit the atmosphere alot of the times.

Perhaps not, but I applaud Masashi Hamauzu for making a great OST that stands alongside Uematsu's work. Let's face it, hard to stand up to OSTs such as IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X... almost the entire series. :P

Man I have to disagree. I could give you XII and XIII, but I will never be able to forget the tracks of FFs 4-10. Same for environment and atmosphere. The tracks in FFs 4-10 usually fit like a glove.

Definitely the Final Fantasy series.

Zelda does have some FANTASTIC music, but nothing can conmpare to the greatness of the Final Fantasy soundtracks.

Absolutely. I didnt think XIIIs music was bad, and in some instances it was simply outstanding. The bar was simply set too high in some of the previous titles.

I am a Zelda fan but come on music is the only thing Final Fantasy is superior to Zelda.But Zelda has the better gameplay for that and is not a grindfest.

It's extremely simple and generic child tunes at best, makes you wonder wether the composer actually is a musician at all. I literally make music better than that in 2 minutes. I'm not kidding. Although I've only played OoT, but I guess this what was you were thinking about.
