Not necessarily a remake but I would like Chrono Trigger in HD.
Not sure why anyone would want to remake MGS1-3. Gems as they are.
@Netret0120: I didn't play them and if they remake them then The graphics will be better @ten_pints: will add it
The game that really deserves a remake is Deus Ex. Even that is enjoyable today once you into the experience. Most late 90s and early 2000s games have aged well and in most cases so called remakes ruin charm of originals (there are very few exceptions like Homeworld or upcoming System Shock).
Shadow of Colossus, so we can forget that wannabe Last Guardian. But we all know Sony is aint that smart, so not gonna happen.
I've heard Chrono Trigger was good, been meaning to check it out. I'm in for a good Thief remake, maybe combine Thief 1 and 2 with modern graphics, added detail with some enhanced level design.
Clive Barker's Undying, amazing game. RE4 is already in the works, out this year. SOTC is actually a good call, hard to play even the PS3 totally non-HD HD version now without thinking Christ that looks terrible.
It still looks better than The Last Guardian though lolz.
Outside of Metroid 2, none, maybe I'd want some games where the devs went back and finished up more of the game (KoToR 2 for instance would benefit from another go by Obsidian) to tighten it up, but otherwise games like RE4, Chrono Trigger, or the likes of Deus Ex are timeless. I can easily still play them today. Metroid 2 would benefit because some of the stuff about Metroid before Super Metroid gameplay wise wasn't as strong, and that games visuals inherently hurt the playing experience. That game would benefit a lot from the zero mission treatment.
@blueinheaven: that's hd not a remake
Guys, I will add the other options in the morning because my internet is slow on nights for some reason
Are you talking about RE4? If ever a game absolutely did not need a remake, that's it.
#1 on my list is the Panzer Dragoon series, especially Panzer Dragoon Saga. I also want remakes or remasters for Shenmue 1 & 2, Skies of Arcadia, Shining Force III scenarios 1-3, Power Stone 1-2, Ninja Gaiden Black, and F-Zero GX.
No One Lives Forever
Wing Commander: Privateer ("I don't mind that you attacked me, but defending myself against your kind gets expensive. And I'm on a budget. *fires missile*)
Simcity 4 (c'mon 64-bit multi-threaded beast!)
Resident Evil 2 (already getting remade)
Resident Evil 3 (will eventually happen)
Skies of Arcadia
Metal Gear Solid 3
KOTOR 1 and 2
Yes!! I'd love KOTOR 1 especially to be remade... love that game so much!
FFTactics id like to see this beefed up like gorgeous sprites I mean like street fighter 2 anniversary level sprites, more classes.
FF6 id like to see the same treatment FF4 Complete Collection got on PSP
FF7 I'm scared of that remake it looks a bit walking simulator for my tastes I hope this game is for the fans and not newer gamers.
You kind of have to quantify what NEEDS a remake at this point. A game like GoldenEye? Perfect example. It's low FPS and single analogue control scheme a remake would help substantially. Resident Evil 4, SOTC, and MGS series does not need a remake in the slightest.
The Perfect Dark and Banjo remakes were absolutely awesome and needed.
Absolutely none of these games need remakes in the slightest except arguably for the Thief games. Who the hell needs a Resident Evil 4 remake?? That game was basically flawless back then and it still is now, it hasn't aged almost at all except for the tank controls (but that was dated even back then, and it doesn't really detract from the experience because of the way the levels and the AI is designed) and obviously the graphics (To an extent - It still looks pretty good).
However I'm not actually opposed to remakes as certain people appear to be. Contrary to movies, where remakes are just downright retarded nearly by their very concept, games are what I believe the concept of remakes were made for - ALL games are COMPLETELY dependant on their technology, and as technology improves so does the ability to create better games (Not that that ability is being taken advantage of very much). Remade games, unlike remade movies, always have the potential to make their original versions completely obsolete, as nothing more than nostalgia fuel/history artifact, and it's a great way to experience a game you may have missed for any given reason and without having to just DEAL with the fact that technology was so much worse and people just had this creepy obssession with making everything as ridiculously unintuitive and overwhelming as possible. I would know, considering Alpha Centauri was one of my favorite games back in the day and now I find nearly impossible to come back to because of how insanely overwhelming it is, and for no particular reason other than games were just more "hardcore" back then and I was just sort of used to it.
Most games that I believe NEED remakes are mostly 80s and early 90s games, because they are not only ugly for the most part but their design is completely archaic and overly conversome in every sense of the word, and a new coat of paint + A more intuitive design could not only be a great chance to experience stuff you may never have or were dissuated not to because of the technical limitations, but also as a nice history lesson.
That being said, I'd be down for a remake for the original fallout games - The combat in those games is just a chore, but I throughly enjoyed what was done in Wasteland 2 and if they could remake those games with that kind of gameplay I'd be all over it.
I would vote for Thief and Thief 2 but they would likely get bastardised for todays generation of casual gamers.
A game I would like to see remastered though is Everquest 1 and only if they kept everything but the graphics and zone lines exactly how they were (before it went F2P).
Metal Gear 1 and 2. But that wouldn't be much of a remake really. They would have to be completely different games in this age.
I don't understand the vocal desire recently for remakes of the MGS games. Those games are just fine and essentially timeless. Leave them alone damnit.
Metal gear solid 3.I was so annoyed when i heard a remake of mgs3 was going to happen and it turned out to be a friggin pachinko game. Why must you torture me?
Mgs 1 could use a console remake please? and a well done one.
I dont really care about mgs2 that much but oh please pretty please with sugar on top can you remake mgs3 and not have it be a pachinko?
I don't know, I don't really want more remakes.
I just want all the classic games to be still playable on modern hardware, so you can always take that original game with you on newer hardware.
So a simple patch would be appreciated :)
GoldenEye 007, duh!
Goldeneye just had an excellent remake last gen
Did many people play that ? It was a Wii game that was later ported to 360/PS3.
I don't really recall anyone talking fondly about this game like say the old Goldeneye.
Oh man, a metric fuckton of games I'd love remade, but if I could only choose one, it'd be Silent Hunter III. IV still holds up semi-respectively well presentation-wise with mods, but III is showing its age. Thing is, its campaign is focused on the Kriegsmarine (whereas VI focuses on the Pacific theatre which, IMO, is far less interesting). I'd KILL to see Silent Hunter III remade (and tweaked/improved in a few places) with Star Citizen's budget. Unfortunately these games hold a pretty niche appeal, which is understandable as they require patience, stalking, I.D. ing targets, observation, plotting torpedo solutions, navigation, reading radar screens, etc.
It's not for everyone, but it's incredibly gratifying when hours of effort payoff in the kill. I know a remake is never going to happen and this series is dead, but I can always dream. There needs to be more slow, considered, and calculating sims like these.
From SH IV:
Halo 3. My God, that game with Blur cinematics would be godly
This is my answer as well. Halo 3 is a last gen game and still looks good in a lot of ways, but I'd love for it to get that Anniversary treatment. Up the framerate. Record new weapon audio.
Those Blur cinematics--I mean, we could go from this exhibit A to exhibit B! Of course her character model would need to be updated in game, but those cinematics are beautiful in H:CEA and H2A, and I'd love some more of them.
Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, and the Legend of Dragoon. Glad you mentioned Dragoon, because I totally forgot about that one. All those games are old and, in my opinion, deserve remakes.
