Horizon Zero Dawn (PS 4)?
Star Wars Battlefront (PC)?
Well?
Yeah, Battlefront 2 is looking ridiculous right now. Wouldn't play it even if it was free, but it looks stunning on a technical level.

Don't be ridiculous now, Conan the boner :P
No exaggeration breh, way too many games I'd rather be playing than that.
It's not even an insult really, I'd say the same of most games. Money isn't the issue, a lot of them just aren't worth the time.

I'm not buying it Mr Boner :P
Currently is likely BF1, it will likely be Battlefront 2, at the end of the year. Horizon: zero dawn at least needs a mention.
Probably Battlefront 2 tbh, I have no doubt it's going to look unreal.
Ditto.
Also, this thread is about the best looking game, not what games people want to play.
One of my favorite PS4 game this year is none other then Horizon: Zero Dawn as the best looking game I play so far but however, it's a good looking game, yes but I'm not in for the graphics (despite this thread is asking for graphics king) it's the gameplay, story, and Robots that sold me.
And I'm voting this over Battlefront 2. (Which by the way I'm buying Battlefront 2 launch day)
crysis
it looks outdated nowadays. and it was surpassed by metro 2033 in 2010.
For a 10 year old game, Crysis still looks anything better then what we have today in terms of gameplay.
Crysis is still a fun game to play by today's standards.
The Order 1886, still.
Lmao, never has been, never will be
I recently replayed it and platinum'ed it. After all this time I was still blown away by how good looking it is (and by how unfairly judged it was as a game at the time of its release, but thats a whole another matter). I cant talk about PC but on consoles is still among the best looking games ever made giving Uncharted 4 and Horizon a bang for their buck, although probably not as technically demanding being it a more linear game. But by raw visuals alone, is still a breath taking looking game

Facial and close up of individuals are top class, granted. As a whole though, the game is a blur fest with Vaseline smeared over everything and then hidden by a thick layer of fog and film grain, to hide the low quality textures and very poor LOD of anything more than 5 feet from the character.

I dont know (and honestly dont care) about the technicalities used to hide worse aspects of the game. I just know the game is amazingly good looking to my eyes and thats all that mattered to me.

That's fine, subjective views are subjective as are the views of anyone claiming "X" game is graphics king. I hope you enjoyed playing it :)

Yup, I sure did ;) very underrated game imo, at least if you dont mind cinematography in games. I think cinematic games are it's own genre (Like Hellblade more recently, for ex). As long as they're not the norm, I have no problem with them. And The Order 1886 is a good game for what it is. If someone went to it expecting something else, then yeah, he would be disappointed.
Very tough call. I'd say Horizon Zero Dawn, UC4 and BF1 for different reasons.
Battlefront 2 is probably gonna be a graphics king from what I've seen.
Star Citizen is another graphics king but I won't mention it yet since it's still in alpha stage and not close to release yet.
I think BF1 is one of the best looking games right now. At 1440p it's pretty stunning. Battlefront (not 2) is also a fantastic looking game.
Not only does Battlefield 1 look amazing it's also hard to think of any other game that has so much stuff going on at times: the infantry warfare, tanks causing chaos, planes flying in the air, behemoths entering the battlefield...
Plus the fact that servers suffer almost no latency or lag, meaning that every action you do is translated extremely well in game and on screen.
I may look at older shooters with a lot of nostalgia, but honestly I think Battlefield 1 has some of the best servers and latency I've ever enjoyed in an online shooter.
DICE has to be commended for their work. The Battlefield 1 engine and netcode is all around great !
Do people still think Playstation games can be graphic king? You know, I thought this faze would end back in the Uncharted 2 days, but people are still biased as ever. Lol
@kmp: The Order 1886 uses some pretty heavy effects to disguise its poor lighting, textures, and draw distance. It also runs at sub 1080p. Character models are really good though!
Battlefield 1 at 4k is definitely the graphics king. Textures and lighting are top class and the models are surprisingly good for a shooter of that scale. That being said, Battlefront 2 is going to be better looking. Frostbite is king of the hill right now.
@wizard: @DragonfireXZ95: The Order looks better than anything I've played on PC, or even you have.
As long as the only games you played on PC are MOBAs.
@AdobeArtist: I have played at far superior no monitors and resolution than your peasant ones.
How do you even know what monitor I've played on? Not that it matters. A very well designed and technically coded game will still look better on a 1080p display than a poorly designed game on a 4K display. Screen resolution doesn't do anything if the game and hardware rendering it can't fully utilize it.
@AdobeArtist: I'm in a discord with you.
And thank you for proving my point. No matter The Order's res, it utilizes everything it has going for it better than anything on PC.
First, you try to counter my post arguing over quality of displays. Then you shift the goal posts about hardware utilization.
Except you aren't seeing the full extent of my point. It's not about the screen resolution, it's about the game resolution, what it natively renders at. Then there's all the other assets quality; textures, geometry detail, level detail, shadows, lighting, occlusion, particles, foliage, and so on. If all these are created to the highest quality and optimized well, it'll look great on 4K (if the hardware can match it) or 1080. But poorly designed assets won't be saved by a higher resolution display.
Hence how your argument about "playing on superior monitors" is so flawed. And while Order 1886 does push the PS4, once those limits are hit, sacrifices have to be made (like in textures, draw distance, lighting, shadows, etc...) to attempt a serviceable performance. Doesn't matter that it's "full utilization" of the PS4 when its hardware has limits, there's only so far that utilization can be taken, no amount will make it look better than a game fully utilizing PC hardware that has far higher headroom. In actuality with the headroom that PC has over PS4 (including Pro) it doesn't even have to make use of all the specs to look better than any PS4 game.
The fact is, PS4 can't have assets as good as a PC game because of hardware limitations, utilization won't extend those limitations.
@kmp: I literally chocked on my beer when I read your comment. You must be playing at 1600x900. Because that's closer to the resolution of the Order than what I can play on PC. The PS4 doesn't even have the memory bandwidth for 2k textures, much less 4k, or the GPU power to run more complex lighting effects. You're falling for smoke screens. Get out of here.
