I really tried to get into the Metal Gear Solid series, but the excrutionatingly long cut-scenes and reptitive game play sort of put me off. I played four hours of the first one. I may get into again, because it could very well be good. I got to the part where you have to fight Physco Mantis.
Anyway, I really like God of War 1's story. God of War 2 was the overall better game, but God of War 1 just had a very interesting story with a decent amount of plot twists, and it was good.
No More Heroes because... it's Suda 51 and he's godly? Is that enough for you?
All the Paper Mario games. I think I liked the second ones story the best because it wasn't as cliched as the third one, but they all had good stories with humorous dialogue.
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. Say what you will, but I really felt connected to these characters, and I loved how the story was told through many different perspectives in Radiant Dawn. These games are both so great. After I am done with The Orange Box, I am going to replay both. I mean, each character had their own unique personality, and I thought there was much more to the story than just "save the world."
BioShock... Yes, the game play was rather shallow, and almost everything else about it was disappointing, but I felt that the plot twist near the end of the game was just jaw-droppingly awesome. Like, wow, I didn't notice that before. The ending, on the other hand, sucked.
Jak 2 and Jak 3 both told stories of corruption in a city, and thought it was very interesting. I haven't played these games in a long time, so I don't remember them too well.
Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon, unfortunately, don't have many games to write home about. Nintendo is more focused on delivering amazing game play. And they do just that.
