That's a tough one.
I'm going to say Lost Odyssey because it was hyped so low.

I have to say Super Smash Brothers Brawls, it may not been an instant AAA series, but if look at it, so far each generation improved over the next, this being the first and second one, but I say the third might possiblely an AAA. I mean I am blown out with the 3rd incarnation, and I am certian it can top the previous 8.9.

Mario Strikers were never hyped AAA, nor I ssay Super Paper Mario. I considered those hyped AA.

LO will get AA despite being the most ridiculous and blatant FF clone i've ever seen.Koalakommander
Half the people who worked on the Final Fantasy games are working on Lost Odyssey. Whats your point exactly? How can the creator of final fantasy be ripping off his own creation?

Didn't seem like to be, but oh well.. I was just speaking what I considered..
[QUOTE="jack_russel"]who the **** is hyping brawl as AA?whodeysay85almost all the sheep. They are afraid to hype anything AAA it seems. With good reason. I mean seriously, when the best game for the Wii, MP3, can't outscore two gamecube ports, TP and Resident Evil 4, and a minigame collection, WarioWare, why should we hype anything. The reviewers on Gamespot seem to nitpick about even the smallest things in a Wii game, and punish the game with a lower score than it deserves for it. Seriously half the little flaws they bring up in some Wii games, aka MP3, they don't even mention for other games on other platforms.

I'm not saying it's a rip off. It's just something that is outdated that you shouldn't be copying with "next-gen" games. Blue Dragon is a fine example of the outdated and overused FF battle system.
It's funny because SE is the only JRPG maker that is trying to get away from their own battle systems.
I've watched about every TGS LO gameplay vid as I was interested in the game. It is litterally a FF clone with a cheap little time-your-attack feature. Will it be a fun game with a good story? Most likely. But this is next-gen, consoles are expensive and I'm not shelling out $60 for something I played last gen.
FFXII's battle sytsem wasn't the greatest, but it was fresh. I would take it over any other JRPG's system any day - save for FFT =p.
Sometimes you don't want old devs working on what should be innovative games.

why would you be stupid enough to call it a clone? you are aware that this game is being done by the original creator and also the composer of Final Fantasy right?

Uh yeah and yet the character in the FF13 video was designed to resemble Cloud from FF7. So I guess that is how they are distancing themselves from the past right?....

I don't see why everyone here is crazy about Sakaguchi. He's proven himself and his ideas obsolete. Turnbased systems were fun last-gen, he fails to do anything new. He is cloning FFs over 6 years old, and critics will tear apart next-gen JRPGs that share too many similarities to last-gen ones (Blue Dragon). I don't care if he created FF, I want something new, and only SE seems to be delivering that. Good think Sakaguchi left. I loved his past stuff but it's time to step down.

Hi there. Not only is the main character of FF13 a woman, she has long hair. No spike at all. If they modeled her face off of Cloud's cool, what does that have anything to do with battle systems?

hey its not my opinion. it was what the FF13 developers said in an interview. also lets admit cloud looked androgynous.

so this game will fail to be innovative because of a character's face?
nevermind all that though. if you really like innovative rpg's then why are you should play mass effect.L1qu1dSword
maybe. I really hate dialogue gameplay though.

The dialogue aspect of RPG's has needed new life breathed into it for a while and this looks like the title that can do it. Besides that it is only one small aspect of the gameplay and in my opinion it beats sitting for hours watching cinematics. I would just pop in a dvd if I wanted to do that.

meh, i like cinematics alot more. having to choose what to say creates akward pauses that take away from the realism of the conversation.
