I usually play through my games on Normal first.
If I feel like playing through them again, I will play them on a harder difficulty.
What about you guys?

I've almost given up on playing games on normal so usually I'll just start it on hard (when I have the choice).
Why have you given up playing them on Normal? Too easy?I've almost given up on playing games on normal so usually I'll just start it on hard (when I have the choice).

Exactly, games are just getting easier and easier so I look at it like I'm spending X money on a game and I don't want to be finishing it in less than 10 hours.
usually normal. I just want to play and enjoy the game for the first time. infamous however, switched it to hard, and I was too lazy to change it (actually the perfect difficulty setting for that game imo). so if the game doesn't change the difficult, i'll play it on normal, but if it decides to change to a harder dif. i'll use that. just too lazy:( also i will never play on easy:evil:
I play every game except sports games on normal so i can keep going with marathon sessions without getting too frustrated. I dont have time to spend restarting every level if i die so i just keep it there.
Sports games go on rookie/very easy difficulty though. i LOVE bashing on the computer, since its just a game. if i want a challenge, ill just call my buddies out and play the actual sport.
It depends on the game. If it's generally renound as a fairly short or easy game then I'll usually choose hard mode so as to prolong the game's length. Eg Bioshock, Uncharted, Dead Space.
I usually play on normal leaving the harder difficulties open for future playthroughs unless it's a game I consider won't be replaying much where I go straight for the second hardest.
Depends if it;s a game series i love (Resident Evil)
If a game is not worth playing on hard (The Conduit) then easy/normal.
Racing games (Do they have a easy/hard mode? lol )
FPS - Again depends on the game.
Or a game i have been waiting for ages I play on hard (Batman Arkham Asylum)

Conduit hardest mode is beyond stupid, since most of the time it had nothing to do with skill anyway. But yer, playing Batman on hard mode atm myself... Combat at first was extreme, but now it is sweet.

Yeah Batman is more fun on hard IMO. Love the DLC that came out (Whatever it was called)

In Mario Kart, opponent difficulty changed depending on engine cIass (50cc, 100cc, etc.)
In Forza Motorsport, you can change opponent difficulty as well as many assists like automatic transmission, optimal path guideline, damage, etc.
Those are all that come up in my mind right now. I don't play many racing games besides Mario Kart. >.>
For familiar series I tend to go with the hard difficulty since it is most likely to be the same concept, but if it is a new series then probably default to get a feel for it before trying the harder difficulty.
Normal/Hard, if I'm playing game in a series I'm familiar with (same gameplay) then I start with hard otherwise I start with normal.
Depends on my mood. If I'm not feeling to happy or am pissed off I would play normal. Otherwise hard/very hard.
Sometimes I'll ask around for reccomendations. For example before starting Mirror's Edge I asked around and was told that the combat can get frustrating in the later levels on the harder difficulty levels and that since the game is not about combat (but rather smooth acrobatics) it just gets in the way. So I played that game on Easy.
Similarly, Far Cry 2 has some annoying combat as well and there is a lot of backtracking if you die so I played that one on Easy as well.
Usaully, just begin on normal, though I find normal is pretty much the new "easy"
I haven't touched an easy setting in years.
Very Hard, sometimes Hard (as Very Hard isn't unlocked or something)
I've been like this for years. If you play Halo, KZ2, Resistance, or GeoW on Hard you are better trained for the MP.
Also, It helps that I don't have to replay the game again, since it's already on Hard or Very Hard.
If Very Hard is too hard for my first playthrough, I go down to Hard and try that out. That almost never happens though, except when a game gets really cheap with poor AI and bad game design, like COD5, I may do a few levels on Hard...but I will find a way to beat the cheap game on Very Hard eventually.
I usually start on Normal and if I really like the game then I'll play it again on harder difficulties.
Very hard unless it needs to be unlocked then just hard. Playing games on normal is too easy imo and because I will beat the game faster makes me think I didn't get my money worth.
i usually play every game i buy on the third level of difficulty.wether it be madden(all-pro), halo(heroic), or cod(hardened).then if im tryin to get achievements or something.ill give very hard a try.
