The DX11 cards are already out:

unfortuently most games now are console focused because its easier to be lazy and produce a crappy game hype it to hell and itll sell. or just repackage the same game 5 different ways. thus developers cater to the weak hardware of the consoles instead of pushing the graphical limits.
crysis 2 if the CE3 tech comes through should look better
When a new engine comes out or if another developer makes a games with Cryengine 2. As of now Cryengine 2 is the most advanced. Most games use Unreal Engine 3 which can't match it.

nividia has failed me lately. i dont feel like paying $100 premium and even more in power and heat just for a few frames more.
im waiting for the hd5850 and to see if the cooler and pcb sees a smaller redesign anytime soon

Yea when I went from my x800 to the 7900Gs i never looked back. i love Nvidia now and I really love their products and will continue to buy from them. Also the addition of PhysX is a nice plus.

Ahh the GTS 250? :P
Seriously though, I know ATI is good at price/performance, but I like the raw power that the GeForce cards offer, plus, they're a lot more stable to superclock.

I see the extra money going to PhysX and the memory clock, oh sure the core clocks are lacking but that's what superclocking is for. :DI see the extra money going to PhysX and the memory clock, oh sure the core clocks are lacking but that's what superclocking is for. :Dtagyhag
physx will hopefully be made irellevent with DX11. and the memory clock is slower on the nvidia cards. the only fast clock is the shaders and thats because theyre separate from the core clock where in ati theyre one and the same. also while nvidia uses a 512bit bus ati choose to overcome the limitations of a 256bit bus with GDDR5. although i hope they release a hd5890 with a 512bit bus
Hey guys remember when nvidia was charging $400 for mainstream and $500 for high end cards? That was so awesome! I just love being price gouged and it gives me a happy feeling! Damn ATI/AMD for coming out with the 4870 with it's better price/performance! Just who do they think they are forcing nVidia to lower their prices?

I have always had issues with ati cards,, nothing like buying kotor back in the day only to find that your new ati graphics card doesn't even play the game and you have to wait for drivers or return it. Or getting one only to find the wrong model in the box. Countless driver issues I have had with ati cards, never again. Nvidia cards have all worked out of the box and all games have run, at least. Hell my 8800gts-640mb can still max most games, this says alot for how dx11 doesn't mean anything, devs are focused on dx9 and xp becasue dx10+ is vista only and that os is crap. If ms would of let xp run dx10+ then tech wouldn't be in a standstill software side. Why does the newegg 3d api field only mention directx .... why not include opengl on there too.. Why must people follow m$? Opengl works for way more platforms and is open standard, non of this only on this os bs![QUOTE="chadwardennn"][QUOTE="shadow_hosi"] or maybe ATI brainwashing machine got you? :|low prices brainwash me. Hi-five to buying with brains!
Here's my history.
ATI 9800 pro - One of the greatest cards ever, no ifs, ands or buts. Beat up all nvidia offerings.
ATI x1950 - smacked around the nvidia 7000 series in shader heavy games (Forced HDR + AA in oblivion FTW)
ATI 2900pro - crap card compared to nvidia, but I got it for free. Free > $400+ for a 8800gts/gtx/whatever.
ATI 4870 - Need I say anything more? I picked up a 2nd off ebay after a year for $90 and crossfire works very well.
so you COULD care less? so you do care then, and being as such you really wish you had an Nvidia and are fooling yourself into thinking that ati is bettershadow_hosi
I currently own an nVidia card..but this ATI vs. nVidia fanboy garbage is annoying. The logical action is to buy whatever is the best at the time of your purchase. ATI is currently the best choice in most areas of the GPU market. Period.

See, the problem I have with ATI cards is that they suck for overclocking. (Maybe it's just me)
And the driver support has angered me in the past.

well nobody likes ATI drivers for some reason. ive had no issues although i feel nvidia makes better ones.
as far as OCing goes ive never had a better experience than with ATI.
particuallarly the hd4830 and especially the hd4890.
my hd4830 got up to 610mhz from 575 and memory to 1950mhz. of course the fan had to be on max when i played games. however my hd4890 i have OCed to 950mhz from 850 and memory at 1130 from 1000 pretty good OC wouldnt you say? plus i only have to turn the fan up to 35-40% to keep in under 70c (on 40% it stays below 60c) at 50% or higher it stays under 50c under load overclocked. and i dont even have a cool case.
Crysis 2?
Project Offset, maybe?
glez13
Basing my next setup around those games apparantly they are optimized for Quad Cores, Phenom II X4 965 DDR3 setup along with what ever Nvidia is coming out with for £250 should cut through everything out now and do some damage to coming games such as those.

Its better not to get attached to a brand when it comes to GPUs (being a fanboy of a certain console I can understand, youknow, different exclusives, different controls, different online service etc etc). A GPU is just a GPU, it all does the same (physx is gimmick as hell) This gen it happens to be ati who wins when it comes to price/performance, next gen it might be nvidia, who knows, who cares?? And its just you, there are many manufacturers who ship ati cards with a customcooler, you pay a bit extra for it. When you buy one of these, you dont even need to OC to get a better performance/price ratio when you compare to to nvidia cards. You see what I am getting at?.. ati cards are so ridiculously cheap atm, its a steal. really is. Btw If you think I am an ati fanboy, then u r sorely mistaken. If nvidia releases a new line with better performance/ratio for mainstream consumers, then ill be happy to buy their cards. Its called common sense, not fanboyism.I dont see it happening for a long time. Although quite a few PC games have already matched/surpassed Crysis in other areas.
