Face it you're not going to get Call of Duty sales by copying Call of Duty or copying elements of it and try to take it on. The CoD fanbases will simply play CoD not its clones. Companies should just stick to what their original ideas of their game where (unless it was original CoD like). Just stick to trying to provide an experince you can't get any where else instead of desperately trying to steal the cash cow that is CoD. Call of Duty is way to big of a franchise for you to take down or steal from.

SOE was questioned of making planetside 2 more Codish so they could attract Cod players, they would of killed the franchise if they said they were

Why is it pointless? That whole BF3 vs MW3 ad gimmick helped BF3 sell up a sh*t storm. Not as much as CoD but a game doesn't even need to sell half that to be a huge success.

And BF3 is not a CoD clone. BF3 is what CoD should strive to be.

Cod doesn't need to be like battlefield they are they're own games battlefield is a more open and large combat game while cod is a game aimed towards people who play online together and is easy to play :p

As long as they sell well I don't think the developers will care what you call it.

well most developers realise that since cod is so succesfull that copying it would give the cod players a control scheme and gameplay feel familiar but with a different setting. well thats my opinion. and of course trying to take that money would also be a reason too.

More likely that the current COD fan base was too busy pooping in diapers around that time.

Even the first COD copied the first BF with its WW2 theme.

IMO the CoD fan base is similiar to the Madden fan base, it comes out every yea and they are always excited about it and it is never actually relevant to gamers(any that are not uber casual).

I somewhat agree, but the term Halo-Killer used to be everywhere, and eventually COD took the crown. So it can be done and the best example is COD. Maybe it wasn't the exact same game, but they are both FPS military games with a heavy focus on multi player.

ye the only way to kill cod is to stop copying it. Why would i buy something which plays like cod which isnt called cod.... Haters gonna hate, but cod is good at what it does. Amazing campaign with industry leading set pieces offline splitscreen multiplayer which is pretty rare this gen Rewarding online system 60fps very accessible

Then BF copied Medal of Honor. And should I mention the creators of CoD worked on MoH?

Just because they both use the same setting (WWII in this case), does not mean that they copied each other.
