-Private game room for bowling, pool, etc... I don't want to stand around for 3 years waiting for people to leave.

-DON'T charge me money for virtual items (that are useless)!!! This is not what Home is about, but yet here we have a pair of pants for $.50 and a new Home Space for $4.99. Yeah right, like I'm going to pay for that...

-Make the animations more realistic. When I sit in a chair, to hell if I'm gonna use perfect posture and sit only on the first 3 inches of the chair...they made back rests for a reason.

That's all I can think of for now...

I think Home should just be about strolling around environments in a relaxed way without having to pay for everything.

for example exploring china ...haha

only kidding ... Home is a rubbis, HOWEVER they should take notes off ANIMAL CROSSING.LOL

Oh, I thought of some other features that would make me use it. Remember when they acted as though you could show video and play music in your pretend house? If you could do that, it would actually be pretty neat. However, I bet they won't implament these features due to copyright protection reasons. Though it's pretty dumb. It's not illegal to play media for real life friends when they come over to your real house, last time I checked.

I already like it, but this is what it really needs:

A point system. You can use your points to buy items in the game. You get points from playing the minigames.

For example:

Summer House:

$4.99 USD or 750,000 Home Points

Yeah, when I told my gf about Home, she thought that's the way it was. When I explained you have to buy furniture etc. with real dollars, she couldn't believe it. Good suggestion.

I agree, and I mentioned a similar idea to a friend of mine the other day. Either earning points through playing the minigames, or making trophies worth Home points. Platinums would be worth more than golds, etc... and you could use "trophy points" to buy items in your virtual Home space.

I like it already... Really it just needs more activities to do and more compelling reasons to go back more often. For me I see it kind've like my Facebook account, I might check in every so often, but I'm not spending a lot of time with it. Still I like it a lot and think it's pretty cool, really anxious to see what they do in the future.

More stuff to do. What is there right now: Bowling and Pool? Add a lot more stuff to do with your friends. But how much could they possibly give for free? Home was too ambitious.

No the reason they removed it is because it sent your message to everyone in the area... IE you can run around being racist and using profanities in E rated areas... and there is no filter unlike with text bubbles... You can still talk to people one on one if you call them...

What it would take is them fixing it.

IE getting rid of the scaracity on things you can do... Why can't I play chess just because all the tables are full? Stupid desgin basically. Plus they have to offer some more free things for me to deck my pad out with.

If that were true, seems like it could be fixed by some community policing, like with LIVE where if someone is a biggot, you tell the man. If it happens again, they're banned. Then again, with PSN being free, I suppose people would just create numerous accounts... but they could ban IPs.

I would HOPE you would be able to hear anyone nearby. Once again, that was the whole point of having a community, at least to me. I wanted to hear what everyone had to say. If people abuse it, that's not Sony's problem. If they remove chat all together (which they will if people keep saying they love the idea) then Home is not only boring, it prevents the human contact it purports to embrace.

Here's another idea... Metagames within Home... like treasure hunts, or tag... something to put the avatars to use. Shoot, they should just give everyone weapons and let them all kill each other. I'd rather do that than bowl.

Wow -- I like the fact that people are complaining ABOUT A BETA. Not only that, but a beta that just became open to the public. For that reason alone, there will be connection problems, and the way that Sony "fixed" it is not bad IMO -- full proximity based voice chat will serve to be an annoying way to communicate. Text would be better utilized as the method for communicating to everyone, while proximity voice chat would be better used for friends only. The only thing I can really complain about is the inability to play an arcade game if someone is already using it. Just because that is how it is in real life doesn't mean it should be mirrored in the virtual world.

Also, if people don't like the prices for micro-transactions, I have a decent solution for it -- have Sony do themed raffles or party games, like easter egg hunts in the spring, or team deathmatch snowball fights in the winter (all with a prize for the winner(s)). The prizes could be those points that another poster mentioned, or a redeemable code towards purchasing in-game products. Even better, it could give people access to other betas and stuff. This could also improve the advertising in the game by having companies and developers create exclusive and limited items that one can show off in Home -- this would make (hopefully) the advertising a bit more relevant and perhaps more tolerable.

They could ban people and you can report people, but I don't think they want to ban people yet because it's only beta and they need more people to test things.

I agree that you should be able to hear anyone nearby, it just opens up a can of worms on how do you deal with people who take advantage of the anonymous nature of the Internet. I think once this is out of beta they'll open it back up for free speach and start dropping the ban hammer.

I already kind of like it - bowling , pool , arcade games with unlockables , shooting the breeze with people , etc. People just want and need more stuff.

Things I would do asap

  1. An amazing LittleBigPlanet space , LBP game-launching , games for the LBP space (with unlockables) , LBP items for sale. 8) Home and LBP were made for one another.
  2. Checkers for your apartment , checkers for the mall too (downstairs) , a few more chess tables for the mall
  3. These should be for sale for the apartments - pool table , darts , chess , arcade cabinets (affordable). You might complain , but you can play all those things elsewhere for free if you want. Sony gots to make money , son.
  4. Some kind of music option for our apartments
  5. Get the Namco arcade Museum here on the double !!!!
  6. Game launching and spaces for other good multiplayer games - Socom , R2 , M2 , etc.
  7. Keep the ads and trailers fresh and mix them up , as well as the songs
  8. Keep adding in free clothing , furniture , character customization options + ones for sale. Don't make us pay for the plain stuff , just the unique items and licensed products. Get Nike involved :P They can build little virtual sweatshops to make us the virtual Nike products.

Big things or other things

  1. Your hall of fame with 3D trophies - tied to Home games , activities + regular games and wallpaper/poster/statue unlockables for games
  2. Age options for different servers if you wish - 13-15 , 15-17 , 18 and up , 18-30 , 30 and up , etc + moderators for the mixed population and under 18 areas
  3. Theatre overhaul - multiple screens and multiple things to view throughout the day. Game trailers , movie trailers , TV episodes , music videos , etc
  4. Bar type space - card tables/card games + darts + arcade games (like the bowling alley)
  5. Nightclub - disco disco disco - Give them people a special place to dance , lol.
  6. Pets for your apartment to liven up the place - give everyone a fishtank with some fish and a gerbil or something if they want it (lol) - have a bunch of other tanks and pets for sale - fish , reptiles , etc. You might not pay for this stuff , but others will. Sony gots to make money , son.
  7. Change the central plaza every few months - different game or activity and different set-up. Right now it should look like winter and Christmas in there
  8. Mini-golf course , casino , fair

What would it take for me to like it? PURPOSE. Right now, it has none. It seems aimless. Pointless. Purposeless. Random interactions with people doing lame things, when you can be doing better, more fun things with that same time on your console. At this point in development, I don't think there's anything that can change enough for me. Unless, maybe, there were a "Home City" of sorts, that had nothing but buildings for each game that you can walk into and jump in a game with. No more waste-of-space bowling alleys. Let the "movie theaters" come later. And have "Home Stadiums" for major events like E3 press conferences or tournament finals. that would rock. Right now, it doesn't do that.

Well I quite like it but I found that actually buying a few bits from a couple of the stores (yes I know... I wasnt going to... but I saw this shirt I wanted... then a chair...) Well after a couple of transactions I found I couldnt buy any more due to my credit card become blocked and I had to explain to my bank who called to confirm my transactions that... yes I was actually buying all this junk.... Was quite embarressing really and I am quite thankful that my credit card company is keeping an eye on me stopping me going crazy in home - lol

I would love it if you could actually break into places that sell guns, and then being able to kill people. If they die, then they can never come back. I know tons of people would go guns-blazing, but it'd be better than a bunch of virtual avatars sitting around, saying, "This is boring." And you could be put in jail for a few days if you get caught stealing furniture and stuff. I want to be able to go around, have a hold-up at the mall, and kill people. They should make guns expensive and have to legally have a license. Guns should be expensive, so people have to work their way up to killing people.

Basically, Home should be the greatest game, ever, and the game we all want! Then they should model certain events, like Hurricane Katrina, so we can fight in the ghetto and such.

I think you guys are missing the whole point of Home for Sony which is to use it as a new source of revenue to compete with Live. Giving away items doesn't make economic sense when the purpose of the whole thing is to make money.

Home can be improved by getting rid of it!!!

seriously!

sony should ask THEMSELF and say

y would i play this?

tbh its pathetic

Paying for virtual clothes??? wtf

"hey lil bro! what u get for christmas?"

"i got trainers for 10 dollars!

"kl may i see it?"

"ummmm"

The trophys u earn ingame should be the currency imo!

also the servers suk!

Just abandon it. It serves no purpose. What fun, what enjoyment can you get outta your avatar wandering around a crappy lobby filled with ads? Chatting with people is great if your into that, but why not do it in an actual game?

I do like it. It should be completely free though. The stuff you use, your homes, clothes, furniture, should be bought with points as Rikusaki mentioned and should come from games themselves... I don't care if the whole point is to make money; it's a stupid approach in my opinion. Other than that, I'm just lookin' forward to the additions they make when it's really released.

[QUOTE="donalbane"] Wait what? You mean there will be no mics in home? Band width issues?Travis_Odell

[QUOTE="donalbane"]

I don't like it as is, and many others here agree, so my question is simple... what could Sony do to make Home more appealing to you, if anything?

For me, I'd like it if everyone used headsets. Sony just announced they're 'temporarily' removing all chat from Home, no doubt do to bandwidth issues.

How about you?

Travis_Odell

Wait what? You mean there will be no mics in home? Band width issues?

They say the feature was 'temporarily removed', but I was in the open beta and it had no bluetooth headset support, which sucked. Hard. I assume it was for bandwidth issues... 60 people talking would require a buttload of bandwidth. Resistance 2 has 60 players online, yes, but you can only talk to the 3-4 people in your tiny squad, NOT the whole team. (Hell, not even the people in your squad have headsets the vast majority of the time.)So Resistance 2 was a similar disapointment.

I was glad that they added chat again when the beta became open, but it seemed nobody but nobody had a working headset, so it was still just a bunch of teens texting "WOW THIS IS JUST LIKE REAL LIFE! I LOVE HOME!" back and forth. I would literally run around and scream "TALK TO MEEEEE!", and "Anybody here have a mic?" but nobody ever seemed even slightly receptive. I'd hear one or two percent of the people with mics, but nobody seemed interested in engaging in a real conversation.

I once asked if a guy who was texting with me if he could even hear me and he said 'No.' Turned out, he hadn't even set up his console to recieve voice over his speakers. It's a lousy social network that feels more like a ghost town. When Sony said "We have a very different view of online than Microsoft", they weren't kidding. I really wanted to like Home, but without voice chat, I think it's a pointless application. It's like hanging out in a monestary with a bunch of monks who have pledged a vow of silence.

[QUOTE="donalbane"][QUOTE="GundamGuy0"] No the reason they removed it is because it sent your message to everyone in the area...

DeathScape666

So basically, make Home like a Saint's Row MMO. I like... no, I love!!!

Another vote for making Home more like a Saints Row/GTA style MMO. Seems to be a popular idea... making a gaming console with a focus on actual gaming. Then again, I suppose they will eventually let you join all PS3 games from within Home. Right?

They need to have game support for Party system, jump in and out of games, cross game and cross game chat and all of these features to be able to be done through the XMB and accepted through the XMB aswell.

Some one should be able to invite me to a game while in home and I can accept it or even set it up through the xmb. Sony did say all Home features would be useable from xmb if people didn't want to use Home.

Also they need to open the world up a bit to really explore like 2nd life, its nice to see that harbor out of my apartment but dang let me walk out to it and hold a picnic lol.

Over all I like home and what Sony is trying to do, but it was a bad idea to launch it without any game support and that is where most of the gripes are coming from. And also Home is what people make it, if you go to a block party and sit on your thumbs how fun is that block party going to be :)

So even with dedicated servers Sony has bandwidth issues, will they get more bandwidth? How many people can be in a home server at once?

I don't know, and I was joking about the strip club thing. Im not sure there is much that could sway me into using Home again. I think a points system that you can use to buy in game items like Rikusaki said could maybe do it, but I would need that stuff I use my points to buy to do something other than be used for bragging rights. I remeber hearing that major gaming events like E3 and stuff will be in Home and let you preview the games (that are on PS systems of course) and watch keynotes etc, that I would use it for aswell. I can't really think of anything else right now, I just don't think Home is my kind of thing. And if people are after a GTA style MMO they should keep an eye out for APB.

If it had a point. No one buys a game just to walk around, it's boring. I think it would be better with a livelier atmosphere, like throw a bunch of NPC's in, expand the world and make it more alive and interesting.

Exactly! :D:D

We should send this idea to Sony! NOW!

EmperorSupreme

Not going to happen, the whole point is to get money out of you...

But if your spending a lot of time on it then they are making money on you thru their advertisers. So I see how Rikusakis idea could work

Yeah! You can't get 750,000 Home Points in just one day. It will take much longer!
