What was the general consensus for the SC: Conviction demo?!
Who liked it?! Who didn't?!

Disappointing, considering that you couldn't complete it without being heard, seen, or having killed anyone. Even more disappointing when Ubisoft posted a video on their youtube page with the title "full stealth demo walkthrough", only to hear the enemies yell "ENEMY HOSTILE IN THE AREA" at several points through the walkthrough, confirming that Ubisoft do not know what stealth means.
vats system is stupid, they used it just so they can hype up that you can play in "real time" thru the scenes, which to me is very dumb, and i didnt find it too stealthy, im a huge fan of stealth, like metal gear and the original splinter cell games, whatever i might still get it seeing how my 360 has been collecting dust lately
pretty decent.
but i'm concerned that we've heard nothing on any new spy vs merc mode.
if they take that out then the game is going to be fairly mediocore.
Meh, i havent liked the series since Pandora tomorrow. It was kind of fun, but there was something not right. The production values or something seemed low. The cutscenes were pretty awful, and the last cutscene before the demo abruptly ends was just terribly executed imo. A rental maybe, if i feel like it.AnjunaddictWhat!?!?!?! No love for Chaos Theory?:( Double Agent was horrible and I was also letdown by the Splinter Cell Conviction demo. No more hiding bodies, throwing cans and whistling makes me sad. The new mark and execution system is all right, but takes away from the stealth aspect of the game. Can't see myself using if too much anyways.
I agree. And I used to be a huge fan. But this new gameplay is a complete mockery to the franchise.didn't like it...
splinter cell is basically dead to me now.

[QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"]Good lord... Lemme revise that, you COULD complete it without being SEEN or killing anyone, but to do so you had to use tactics that would alert the enemies that you are in the building up to no good. I wouldn't really say that counts as full on stealth, which is something i think should be possible in a SPLINTER CELL game.Disappointing, considering that you couldn't complete it without being heard, seen, or having killed anyone. And whoever wrote that was also right about the original concept... It actually was quite interesting and even made sam a bit more realistic.
I didn't particularly like the splinter cell games before but I can understand why people would be disappointed with this.
It was fun yes,but completely slaps everything Splinter Cell has stood for in the face. That being said,I still want to play it just because I can't deny that it was really a blast to play; but I also can't help but feel disappointed by the way this franchise is being taken. This will be a rent, definitely.
I kinda didn't like it. The controls were rather overstuffed, like holding L and then pressing buttons is a whole different set, though maybe like Assassin's creed it just takes a bit. The things that bothered me the most were the butchered stealth mechanics. The only difference between in and out of shadow was the screen going black and white suddenly, and a lot of the areas were already either dark or colorless so I couldn't tell how stealthed I was or if I was about to move back into the light, I mean color. The insta kill moves were cool but very buggy, I tried the demo twice and both times I managed to shoot people from an impossible angle just by marking them. I don't know, the graphics were great, but everything else just felt really off.

I think its a fresh feel that will get the series back in the minds of gamers. They are free to go to their roots later. Im glad they changed it up a bit, Double Agent was stale, and lame :P[QUOTE="biggest_loser"][QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"]

I don't see why they couldn't have done that. Instead it seems the level design is focused around the mark and execute feature. Again, this is just one level we've gotten to play, the others could be different and there could be more gadgets that promote full on stealth that were not included in the demo
You know what I think?
People are complaining way too much. This game had to be updated to fit the modern spy trends like Jason Bourne and the new 007 flicks. People want harder edged stories with pretty intense and gritty violence as opposed to hiding in the shadows.
I am a PS3 owner and I think it is an incredible game.
Um, where did the stealth go?
And they really simplified the controls, too.
IDK, I'll play it a couple more times, but right now................me no likey:(

But again, to be fair to the devs, they will never please everyone. I think (by the response garnered at E3) that the vast majority of the gaming public were glad the game was changed. I was skeptical as well until the demo. Im glad they changed it, and it turned out great imo.
I enjoyed it personally. As I said, already have the PC version reserved. And I was a huge fan of all the past ones on PC as well.
Thing is, it can be played more agressively or pure stealth. That's what i enjoy about it. Especially on Realistic mode, it's very difficult to not kill anyone tho. But who really wants to sneak through an entire game without being seen anyway? It's more fun setting up to take these people out. Only thing I miss is the regulation of walking/running speed.
Not Splinter Cell fans...You know what I think?
